I started to watch the movie on a plane and I just couldn't get into it. It looked ok, but I think Hero was much more visually appealing. And if they were going to do the entire movie in English, they should have done it all in English and not tried to use cute Japanese here and there.

But I've heard good things about the book, so I might give it a go. =)

that was one of the only things that pissed me off about it
it being in english. They should've had it in all english or all Japanese. Not both

I never read the book. But I enjoyed the movie. Good eye candy, and I wasn't expecting much more.

(But as a side note, I'd like to say that I don't like when people compare books to movies. They are two entirely distinct artistic expressions that offer a different experience--even ignoring the liberties taken by directors to change any plot elements. It's silly to compare them.)

I completely agree. I took a book-to-film class and the people that always insisted the book was better also seemed to never do well on papers. :-P

And I was under the impression that both this book and movie sucked tremendously, the book for inaccurate portrayals and betrayal of trust of his source. At least that's what I read in a mostly good book called "The Asian Mystique", which I would highly encourage every white man in love with asian women to read.

Book was good, the movie was slightly rushed like they usually are but then again it had my favorite actress so I liked it

Somewhere over the rainbow...
I feel really bad for loving the movie, but never have read the book.

I've picked it up at Barnes and Nobles numerous times, but then I always put it back and go buy music.

Maybe now that I can't spend any money to save up for my Japan trip, I may borrow it from the library after I finish the DaVinci Code (yes, I read books way after the hype of them is over).

Side note: it makes me sad that we don't have a strike-out option for posts. I love using strikeout to make funny things.

Or... do we, and I just can't see it?

I haven't seen the full movie, but so far I like the book so much better. But it doesn't mean that I liked the book too much either. I just think it was better.

That wasn't Hime's avatar when I asked which one is her favourite actress.

Actually, yes it was. Because I remember when Hime made that comment and I looked over and went "Hey, Zhang's hot".

I've never read the book nor seen the movie ::meev::

I normally prefer to read the book before the movie though, it isn't to compare the two later. I usually end up imagining the character's appearances and other things from the book way different from the movie, and if seeing the movie first I imagine characters as the actors and all of that. Just something random I like to do I guess :P

I was going nuts after the first HP movie came out I'm like " WTF?! HIS SCAR ISN"T ON THE SIDE! AND THAT'S NOT LIGHTENING!" and things like that. I do that with all book-movie things.
Did it with fight club
