I wonder, who thinks the book lives up to the movie?
Which do you think is better, the book or movie?

My deal is- I am a firm believer in the book is almost always better than the movie
though this may be because I hate movies
but I am very pleased with Memoirs of a Geisha. They changed things and such, but it is a beautiful movie, as is the book
The soundtrack is what gets me I think
but anyway, what do you guys think?!

I never got to see the movie, but from what I heard about it I prefer the book.

The book just plain rocks me.

Book by far. Movie was terrible. Lines were delivered incorrectly, characters were made out to be psychotic instead of in love. Just a terrible book-to-movie translation. My girlfriend is a much bigger fan of the story and she was appauled by the movie. I wouldn't call either "amazing" though. There's been better love stories, and there's been better books. House of Leaves, kthx.

The book is absolutely wonderful. I have rarely read a book that affected me the way that one did <3

and as for the movie..again..I think it was wonderful.
It was..wonderfully shot at any rate.
You have to admit, take away the lines and shit- then look at the way they shot it and the music and everything.
Beautiful <3

But I hate movies, so I know nothing about them. I just know it was very beautiful.

I probably feel the exact opposite way. I think the movie was an insult to the book. It was basically like the book got into a huge fiery car accident and came out of it in the form of the movie.

BEST. COMPARISON. EVER.

I'm becoming less and less likely to ever rent this abomination now XD

Don't let Kazuo's whitty response get you down
rent it and make your own decisions.
I wish you lived around here..I could get you it for free...
Maybe I could burn it and send it to you? That way you don't have to waste money..?
(I've never had to pay for a rental in my life, as my dad owns a blockbuster, so i get them all for free. I think it's pointless to pay 345894736894375689 dollars to rent something for a week...)

Yeah, let the reviews from lovers of the book all over who say it's terrible get you down. xD

And that wasn't witty. That was honestly how I feel.

I prefer the book. Oh wow; I read that book back in middle school. I feel old. :D

Eh, the movie . . . it's pretty, yes, but pretty doesn't equal good. I was kinda disappointed on Sayuri's and the Chairman's relationship development. It didn't seem believable to me.
I didn't care for the ending, either. I was like, "That's it? D:".
It felt like a soap opera. Or something.

MOVIE, YOU SHOULD HAVE ENDED WITH SAYURI GOING TO AMERICA GETTING OLD AND OPENING A TEA HOUSE IN NEW YORK. WTFZ.

Callistar (XP) get the movie. Make your own decisions

Was I the only one who felt that their "love" looked more like "psychotic infatuation"? It creeped me out.

Well. Yes. The ending did piss me off
and agreed about the chairman shit. It seemed like he loved her since she was about 10. Which..is...wrong.

I'm tempted but Kazuo DOES have a point, I'm actually terribly picky about book-to-movie transitions. If it's not JUST right, I go into a random bitchfest about it XD

Often times, if there's a book I like, I refuse to watch the movie. Because it tends to ruin it for me.

@Sumire- WTF SHE DOESNT DO THAT?!?!? ZOMGWTF, How much ELSE do they leave out?? >_<

Yeah.
Perfect example of bitchfestworthy book-to-movies are the Harry Potters. And I beg Kaz not to comment on that, for the sake of my fragile heart that holds Harry Potter very dear.
The HP movies sgtikrdhyjklhnlk j I want to shoot JKR for letting them go on!
But..
Emma watson is hot..so...O.o
anyway
BACK TO MEMOIRS!

Really? Well, that could relate to Sayuri . . . but I guess I could see where's she's comming from with the 'holding out/longing for TEH ONE'. I guess.
Chairman was like "LULZ WHATEVER ILU 2 BABE".

I found the Dr. Crab parts creepy. :|
LULZ. I typed Dr. Crap, at first.

Don't worry. HP doesn't interest me in the least, so all I'll do is watch the movies, if they're on.

The movies don't even come CLOSE to the genius that is JKR
