So, hang on... Kindergarten is where you send your kids for a year or so before they can attend school... and there's also a pre-kindergarten?!
What's that, straight out the womb into a sandpit?
Pre-school is more about having little kids have fun with other kids to build up social skills and relationships and all that. It's not school; more playtime.

Yeah I think I've got it now...

US Pre-Kindergarten = UK Playgroup
US Kindergarten = UK Reception

I always thought Kindergarten was equivalent to Playgroup, for kids of about 3 years old, hence the befuzzlement towards Pre-K.

Ah, our preschool starts at about 3, and kindergarten... hmm, around 5, I guess? That explains it then. :]

My parents wanted to put me in Kindergarten early, so they took me in to be 'tested' (I guess just simple social/problem solving skills, maybe), and apparently I engaged the tester in conversation the whole time. I passed the 'test' handily, but she told my parents that I talked too much. Which they thought was bunk, but yeah. So they waited another year to put me in kindergarten. And then I skipped 3rd grade. So... I always wanted to find that woman and kinda thumb my nose at her. :-P

And what do you do in pre-preschool? o_O How is it different from, say, day care?
heck if I know... apparently I just screamed a lot and refused to stay.

Maybe pre-preschool is for children of parents who watch to much PBS and the like. So the parents can send their children there and pretend they are going to be extra more refined in their education and cognitive development than say, children who just went to regular ol' daycare.

... of course the grammar in that last sentence proves that apparently it didn't work so good.

i graduated high school this year. i'm currently contemplating either going to college or joining the military. though, based on the wise comments of some people on this forum it seems the best choice would be to enroll in college first. so, we'll see. :)

I'm in my second year of University, and I still have no idea what I want to major in -_-;; But I like school, though. I'm a natural-born nerd.

:\ That's what I plan to study as well. At least it is better than what I originally wanted to study - forensic pathology. ^^;; It'd take at least 10 years including residency, etc.

I'm a junior at the WORST SCHOOL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Try being an intelligent person surrounded by absolute MORONS trying to teach you 11th grade English that you picked up in 5th grade. OH MY GOD. My French teacher pronounces 'au revoir' as "oh-ray-vwar."

I only have 2 competent teachers!!!!!!!

Do we need to make the "keep personal angst to LJ" rule officially forum-wide rather than strictly for the Random thread, or can it go without saying your terrible life at school needs no capslocked details in a thread about one's level of education? :P
