Mana doesn't want people to like him!
he wants them to worship him!
There's a big difference you know. ;p

Now back on topic

I really have no comment on this matter. :p

I thought the interview was set up a bit weird. They start off with "oh, we won't ask you about VK or what your name means" as if they're trying to be respectful, then they throw the Mana question out of the blue and have the "someone giggling" comment. Just seems like their motives are questionable.

Well if it were my music (not that I make any) that was the topic of that question and it got 'no comment' and a 'giggle' I suppose I would be quite offended.
It'd have been much more diplomatic of them to simply say it's not their particular taste or not what they'd normally listen to, but it's like they wouldn't even dignify it with a proper answer.
I see (or think I do at any rate) what the OP is getting at. As far as I'm concerned this 'no comment' is anything but.

I like this way of thinking of both of you.

This is seriously getting nowhere. Imma ask navate about letting this die because we keep going in circles, and this is starting up some really dumb arguments about something that potentially means nothing. None of us are going to lose sleep over this, and if anyone is, grow up, find a job, get a life.

Oh and, btw, I just thought of this. Whatever Dir en grey thinks of Mana and Moi dix Mois isn't our business and isn't our place to criticize, whether they respect him or not. It doesn't say anywhere that j-rockers have to respect other j-rockers. Mana is not God, so there is no rule saying they have to respect him.

EDIT: Btw, I just don't want anyone getting into any crazy flame wars and like.. hating someone over it. I think it's best if we just leave it be.

well, before this dies, I just wanted to say I agree with Kazuo. Just because he's been around for so long and such doesn't make him better than anyone else. It just makes him mature in his musical career so who cares if anyone says that it's offending when someone else says "no comment" rather than saying "omfg, i hate hiM!"

Right. I'm done. don't rip my head off for saying this, and it's a good time for it to die.

I don't think anybody is saying that Mana is better than anyone else or that he is God but I think he deserves a certain amount of respect for having survived for 10+ years in the entertainment business without compromising his artistic intergrity. Whether other J-Rockers (who should know from their own experience that this is no mean feat) are prepared to give him that respect is of course up to them.

I agree that Mana deserves a certain respect. But no matter how much respect someone deserves there's always going to be one person who doesn't give them that respect, and people should learn to accept that.

In any case, i don't think the interviewer's intentions were 'evil' or 'misguided'.
You're an INTERVIEWER.
Your damn job is to press record on the tape machine, ask questions, go home and write EVERYTHING down. Even if it's a giggle.
Imagine how much we would have missed if Mana's interviews didn't have that silly (笑~) at the end of his answers. :|

They have to write everything down. If someone giggled and he transcribed the thing 38 days later and he didn't remember WHO giggled. Yes, it's his fault. But no evil intentions were there, I'd think. Maybe a well-deserved scolding from the Editor he must've been given, but nothing more. ;)

--k *and yes, this topic should be left to die* ^^;

Hello
I write on orient-extreme.net, the webmag which have done the interview of Dir en Grey (in the first page).
I didn't read the whole topic

Orient-Extreme: In Europe, you are the most popular Japanese metal group, along with Moi dix Mois. What do you think of them, and of Mana?

Die suddenly puts on a serious expression.
Die: "no comment"
This has been followed by : "La réplique déclenche un mini-fou-rire rapidement contenu"
i translate it: the answer made DEG' s members laugh a lot...

We can understand that by many things, but i think (what my colleagues tell me about the interview) DEG were not aggresive toward M10M... it was a little joke.

I dont know,, I really enjoy a good well thought out fued. I would find it quite amusing if two bands I loved got into it. So if DEG hates M10M(which I dont think that is what they were saying) it would be a riot. Rock music, metal music, punk music, none of it is suppose to be safe and friendly. If everyone got along all the time,,hell every band would be Sting or U2.

I love how Mike Patton(Fantomas) and King Buzz(Melvins) have their fake fued in interviews. Makes for a good read. But I am a dork like that.
