We don't know that. o__O Where do you keep getting these assumptions? XD

well, I can't imagine Mana doing all he does without having earned some relatively heavy money xD

I honestly don't think he's rich or anything. He's probably "well off", but he's no millionaire or anything.

Boi seems to be pretty adamant about Mana rollin' in the Benjamins. xD

That would only amount to $5,000 a year...

Plus it costs money to publish the Madousho and distribute it (and maintain the website, and pay for the person who translates and posts it, and for the person to design the book art, etc.).

I meant to write 500, sorry XD. It also doesn't need to be more than a person who designs the madousho, "maintain" the website and translates the madousho. I'd handle all three and clean Mana's bathroom for minimum wage. They also don't really "publish" the madousho, it isn't released commercially. They print it and send it off. Most of the time they send two at a time and a madousho is really small and short, too. Hell, you need to get a binder every 6 issues if you want them to be undamaged too.

Of your the price is more than the production cost; the point Berserk was trying to make was that you can't just multiply the number of members by the cost of membership to figure out how much Mana makes.

And putting something out does not necessarily mean you'll be reimbursed... I'm sure Mana has no problem, but earlier in the thread it was mentioned that indies bands often lose money in order to distribute merchandise.

He might have a fanclub of at least 50,000. THEN he'd be rich off of his fanclub.

Yeah, of course he can't just live off of it, but it's definitly what brings in his money if you take for a fact that his cds never sell that well and that he only does "monthly lives", no?

It's sort of sad when you think of it, that a good portion of his money is made by selling you pieces of paper with small pictures and his equivalent of blog entries on them.

I think the very fact that M10M don't play very often and don't do promotional events indicates that his music brings in enough money for him to live off quite comfortably. He'd never be able to run M10M and Midi:Nette off FC subscriptions and I don't think he has a day job. If he needed the money it would be easy enough to play more often (more concerts also means more magazine exposure and people being reminded of M10M more often), step up the promotion, do in store events, play together with other bands and benefit from the cross promotion that brings – all things most other Indies bands do on a regular basis – or sign some more bands to Midi:Nette and make additional money off them but he doesn't do any of that, so I guess he doesn't have to.
