The new version sounds decent. It sounds so much better than the one in the youtube video (granted, the sound isn't fantastic in any of the videos posted)

Dada sounds restrained though - aside from the last "la fin", I wish he'd let go and sing.

Also, Yurikago (is it her?) has a pretty nice voice although it sounds a little detached from the piece.

Yes, it's Yurikago who is the female voice.
I really like the La Fin newer version, I'm suprised, I didn't think it would sound so good, Aci did a fantastic job on it. Does anyone have this as a download?

New (short) demo on their myspace, entitled "HYSTERICA". Different and interesting.

I thought HYSTERICA was a bit hard for Velvet Eden's sound...+ Yurikago's singing got on my nerves!
But I really liked Dada's new outfit in the live of Confession of Mask^^ He looked like he did during old Velvet Eden which was a nice suprise.

... Sorry, not even Dada could have saved that song... I'm really losing faith in the new VE... I thought the new La Fin was terrible, this song isn't hysterical at all (it's pretty boring, actually) and Alice is Dead didn't do anything for me... Sorry Dada, but I kind of wish this phase of VE would end soon ^^; Even the Bera/Mimi era was better than this >_<

I actually liked HYSTERICA. I don't know, it seems pretty promising. I'm going to wait for the whole song before deciding.

Well, I do not hope that Dada end this era of Velvet Eden...even though the music isn't especially good...cause if he do I'm sure he wont return to the music scene again and damn, one mission I have in life is to see Dada live!

I just realized last night what it is ruining the new Velvet Eden songs, ...it's Yurikago! Her singing is bringing the songs down! Tsuki Kumo Nocturne I really like, but the parts where she sings destroys the whole song!

I remember him tweeting that DADA274 hates "classical+gothic". Maybe "274" has a personal dispute with GPKISM, since they've been performing together and they are about the only goth band not affiliated with Kiwamu's label. Maybe kiwimu couldn't get them to join and something happened, lol.

Note: This is merely speculation.

Actually, I'd say it's Aci bringing them down ^^; His compositions just don't stand the test of repeated listening... They may be catchy at first, but they get stale VERY quickly... And considering what VE has done in the past, they're just not interesting enough compositions, IMO ::cop::

I agree. I don't mind Yurikago so much, but the synths are definitely lacking.

And it would be so much cooler if Aci actually played the violin

Oh wow it's been forever. And yet probably not as long as it feels like for me.

I was shocked beyond belief when I found out (JUST NOW) that Dada was reforming Velvet Eden while looking up lyrics on Faith's site. I wish I could have gotten a picture of my face when I read that. It probably looked something like a cross between this and this.

I have to say, though, I'm not... really feeling the new VE. Although! I will say that I was stupid and listening to La Fin before I listened to the new version. That was a really stupid thing to do. But I don't like the new version as much as the original, and the new songs aren't really catching my interest. I think the production puts too much emphasis on Dada's singing, which, as much as I like what he did in the past, isn't the best way to handle his voice. In my opinion. I liked how, on Ningyou Shoukan, his voice seemed to meld with the music. And, on top of that, I don't think Aci's compositions suit Dada's voice as well as Kalm's music did. Or even some of the Mera demotaps.

I guess what I liked most about Velvet Eden was the atmosphere of their music, and not the dance beats? But if Dada wants to do more dance beats, then I guess he wants to do more dance beats. I guess that's why Ningyou Shoukan was always my favourite release, because the atmosphere and mood were so strong.

It's also really weird to think of Dada on MySpace and Facebook and Twitter. Really weird.

Anyway, SORRY FOR THE MINI-RANT, but I don't think it's for me right now. I'm all for and into the dance beats, but I just don't think Aci's compositions are catchy or memorable. Which is a shame, but maybe my opinion will change. Maybe. If I give it some more listens. We'll see.

Actually, quite a number of us share the same opinion as you, so don't worry.

This is my exact same opinion. Some people didn't like the heavy filters on his voice but I felt that it worked so well with the music that it wasn't about the voice being the king of everything else - it's almost like an instrumental piece instead of a vocal piece.

I'm a casual fan of the new era of Velvet Eden, it's difficult not to listen to the new songs because it's well, Dada.

Yeah, I went back through the thread and saw that! I'm glad there are people who do like it, though. It makes me happy to see Dada back making music, even if it's not something for me. Hopefully I'll find something to enjoy full time.

I actually really like new VE, I just think there's room for improvement.

My favourite album so far is Ningyou Shoukan, but their new style is probably more commercially viable.

And I think they deserve a bit of success, at least more than fucking GPKISM.

Also I like reading Yurikago's random blog posts ^^;

When i first got into VE the filters annoyed me at first but then I began to think if there was no filters the album wouldn't have been as good as it is.

I like the new Velvet Eden, though some songs I rarely listen to (Tragic Puppet Show I rarely play) and I really enjoy the more dancier style shown in Witch On Flames. Though I can't help but feel listening to the new songs they all sound like not-so-good quality demo versions that need to be completed. The drums in Tsuki Kumo Nocturne are pretty weak in places. Time will tell I guess, I'm just happy Dada's back doing music :)
