Hey, how are you all? I'm opening this thread here because I was a bit curious about some Mana songs that aren't on youtube. I can't find them on other parts of the internet as well, and I would like to ask if they are concert exclusives. Songs like Material Death, which btw in 2019 was called "unreleased songs", however, in Mana's birthday, in 2019, a full track list come up with a lot of unreleased songs; this made me wonder, does anyone know if there are any minimal recordings there? i'm only aware of the Miroir Archive, but as far as i remember, they posted the broadcast of ~nuit bleue~ only.

Songs like "In That Hill" it is my understanding that this song was played a while ago, but the last time I remember them mentioning it, it was on the anniversary in 2019. Same as songs like "Ghost Whispers", "Du Blanche" and the song composed by Mana for Castelvania: Harmony of Dissonance, "La Nuit Blance". If anyone knows of a website, blog, that has recorded these songs it would be interesting to know. I heard a lot of good things about "Ghost Whispers" the Malice Mizer vibe that this song has, made me curious.

I'm asking this primarily for the purpose of knowing more this content, since I really like the band but can't go to the shows and those songs aren't even on YouTube, so there's no studio version I wonder.

Thank you.

Just listened to Ghost Whispers and sound like generic MdM music like Twinlight Flowers, the chorus is always the same melody on every new unreleased MdM song.

"Material Death" was played last month but sounds just like Dead Scape, same melody, chords and "vibe", is like Metallica meets Slayer + "MdM" syths, nothing new ::meev::

Since the D+Sect album came out, all the songs sound similar, Mana's compositions lost that magic they had and that enchanted an entire generation.

oh, and about "La Nuit Blanche"? that song is a mistery, apparently it was just a midi ringtone for Japanese cell phones from the late 90s.

Does Ghost Whispers really have parts whispered by Mana? I don't remember his voice very well, the last time he "spoke" was in HotWave, I'm not counting the time he technically spoke in Kyomu no Naka de no Yuugi because honestly? Distorted.

Ghost Whispers sounds like a song that could have easily gone to D+SECT or Beyond The Gate because of the vibes of the lyrics and the melodies, I couldn't agree more, what a generic song! LMAO Sounds like a "evil twin" of Angus Dei.

It might just be me, but it sounded like an inferior version of this song by Lacrimosa -

Ah yes, thanks for digging up that song, Lacrimosa is excellent by the way. Like, it's like I'm listening to a version of Alleine Zu Zweit but if they've exaggerated the synthesizers even more and certain bits were developed to be part of the Silent Hill soundtrack, the music seems to live in an eternal loop, it stops playing and just starts again. The beginning sounds identical only a bit faster.

But I won't lie, I liked.

Hmm, I actually really like Ghost Whispers. The arrangement for the non-chorus parts are quite adventurous, kinda like "Eternally Beyond". I love it when Mana plays with synth, I feel like it's been consistent throughout his career, he's a composer who plans everything on midi. My only gripe is that the guitar part seems underdeveloped atm. As for every song sounding the same -- we know he's particularly inclined to a certain chord progression (Elec explains it here), it shouldn't be a surprise that songs start to sound similar after a 3 decade career.

"I mentioned earlier in this review the “Malice Mizer-chord-progression.” Basically, it’s a variation on “ii V I vi”, or “vi IV V I” or something like that. If you’re a musician, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Obvious offenders are: Gardenia, Garnet, ILLUMINATI, Bel Air, au revoir, APRES MIDI, Regret, Saikai, And Bara no Seidou tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10"

Very interesting! I would love some more explanation beyond "or something like that" LMAO
