Magazine: Zappy (ザッピィ) November 1998 (#21)


Features: Malice Mizer in an exclussive Il Circo Strano photoshoot for Zappy (Gackt, Mana, Kozi, Kami, Yu~ki) [13 scans] I photoshopped some of the pictures together, but I'm not really skilled, but it's better then seperate, I think. Mainly the 3 pages that are a continued picture on both pages.

These images were originally scanned at 360BPI. Anyone feeling brave enough to download the 300 meg pack can PM me, but it takes quite a while and the pictures are really too big to look at anyway on one screen, hahaha

Thanks for the scans! I downloaded these a couple days agoa nd I'll put them up on the main site this weekend.
Was the color really that washed-out in the original BTW? I can apply some color correction to them if not.

The paper they were printed on wasn't shiny gloss paper like most pages in magazines, they were printed on a softer paper that didn't have a shine to it, and I think some of the color sank in over time because of the paper, fading it out a bit ^^; They were a little more vibrant in the magazine, though. It would be really cool if you could do the color correction! ^____^

I edited the Il Circo Strano pictures... In hind sight I think I may have had a heavy hand with the contrast and saturation on a couple pictures, but the added vibrance probably isn't a bad thing. The pictures are all straightened, page edges removed, color enhanced, etc.

I attached some of them together in the order that they appeared to be in originally, but I may have made error in doing that. If have, please let me know. I'm not sure if these would be worth putting in the gallery or not, but if not they will at least provide a moment of curiosity for you I think.

I only have a crappy freeware photo editing program and MSPaint (::kisaki:, but I think the result was nice regardless of the limitations. Lining up the two pages for Kami's was interesting to do (you would have to understand the process of how I edited them to understand why they didn't line up in the end); in order to align them, there had to be a big gap in the middle of the right page. Surprising what MSPaint can do, because I was able to fill the gap rather stealthily (or at least I don't think you can tell )

I thought about proposing submissions for interesting articles ("Art and Literature in the Imagery and Thematics of Malice Mizer", etc.) I would be happy to write if there was an interest in them back when the new site was completed, but there haven't been too many more overhauling updates after...

That's because I'm lazy.

But that would be awesome. Flowers and I need to get our gorove back and finish the thing, you're right. It'd be great to have interesting articles on there. (As well as more reviews, etc!)

Yes! Any Gackt scans would be most appreciated. You only need to submit your largest scan for each; our software automatically resizes it to make the medium and thumbnail versions.

We're also looking for help on the Gackt biography. I don't know enough about him to do justice to his solo career.

I can't stand the emptiness in Gackt's section of the site..
