Interview with Ryux- Moi dix mois

Interviewer: Please tell us your opinion about the 20th anniversary of Moi dix Mois.

Ryux: I've only been active with Moi dix Mois for 8 years, but it's amazing that Mana-sama was able to continue his musical activities with the same concept. 20 years ago, I was just a poor punk. I never expected that 20 years later I would be playing guitar as a member of Moi dix Mois.
Well, at the time, if I had predicted that things would be like this 20 years from now it would be ridiculous. (laughs).

Interviewer: Ryux (Moi dix Mois), who has been active for eight years, tell us about your memories of the first performance. Do you clearly remember your first performance?

Ryux: December 2014 in Shibuya, but the reason I joined was the hard truth that Mr. K passed away. On top of that, when we got closer to the first performance, I felt like I had no choice but to finish it.

Interviewer: Were you nervous?

Ryux: I was tense the whole time, but I didn't feel nervous. It's going to be repeated, but the point is that you really have no choice but to do it! But on the other hand, Mana-sama and the members cared about me…For example, before the concert, Mana-sama sent me a message on social media that seemed to show concern for me and the three members..
Each of them gave me advice like, "You should do it this way," or said, "Okay." I think it was probably because they had some kind of anxiety about me joining.
But when the show started, the sound effects were on, and when I stood on stage, the audience yelled “Ryux!”, that became a great power for me.
I remember that even Mr. Mana was surprised by the public's reaction at that time.

Interviewer: Even so, first appearance

Ryux: Sometimes you called me Ryux, right? I was very grateful for that.

Interviewer: As a member of Moi dix Mois, please tell us what is on your mind when you perform on stage.

Ryux: First of all, we must not destroy the worldview that Mana-sama is trying to create. On the other hand, if you do too much, it will seem fake "Don't break it, but don't overdo it" is what I try to do. However, although I say that, in fact. There are some things that I can do naturally.
I think that Moi dix Mois is a sound project based on a certain worldview. But wasn't it too difficult to be part of that worldview? I have been watching Moi dix Mois live many times since I was young. When I was watching as a spectator, I felt that the world view was too strong!
But when I became a performer, the first thing that came to my mind was Mana-sama's music. Also, to be honest, I thought joining Moi dix Mois would require a lot of guidance. It's like "Yeah, you should behave like that here!" But actually I have a strong tendency to say “you can do whatever you want”.
I think there is a punk rock spirit that Mana-sama and I have in common. Rather, I think Mana-sama is waiting for my free ideas.

Interviewer: This is how you joined Moi dix Mois naturally, but out of the many songs, which one is your favourite, Ryux-san? Seventh Veil, isn't it?

Ryux: The premise is that all the songs are great, but if I dare mention it, it's The Seventh Veil.

Interviewer: Can you tell me the reason?

Ryux: It goes back to the story of the first performance, but when I stood at the first performance of Moi dix Mois in December 2014, the first song was The Seventh Veil. I often remember the sounds, sights, and smells of that time, including everything. After all, from the aspect of feelings.
It is a song that you cannot miss.

Interviewer: On the other hand, if there's a song that makes you say, “I'm not good at this,” let me know.

Ryux: Well, it's not that I'm not good at it. I'm the type to work hard and overcome my weaknesses (laughs). But if I dare mention it, there is a song called Dead Scape, which is a standard live song. I don't think there's been a time that I haven't performed at a concert since I joined, but… This song starts with bass and drums, but instead, the tension builds too much. As a result, he gets so excited that he sometimes forgets to bring his own guitar.

Interviewer: Do you mean you forgot your own part?

Ryux: I get so excited that I'm like the audience and go “Wow!” I have lost my ability…In such a case, it is said to cheat me. With a lethal technique of descent. Eight years have passed since Moi dix Mois, but you have done it many times. In the future, if I'm playing Dead Scape with a let go style, I hope you'll think: “I forgot the time when Ryux would come back in” (laughs).
Interviewer: (Smile) Then, when you started working with Moi dix Mois, tell us about the words Mana-sama said to you that left a lasting impression on you.

Ryux: Even though I play freely, I always have the feeling of being close to Mana-sama's guitar. So, they didn't tell me this directly, but in some kind of interview, Mana-sama said, “Ryux's guitar is close to me and reliable.” It just made me happy.

Interviewer: Finally send a message to the fans who read this brochure.

Ryux: I'm the last member to join, so I feel strongly that the fans have helped me. It's not like I'm giving back, but let's keep crying and laughing together.

Messages to other members:

To Mana;

From my point of view, I can write Mana in one word “He is a person who never forgets her joy more than anyone else. Even in the most serious situation, there is a margin somewhere, or rather, a game”. Mana-sama, who stands on the stage as Moi dix Mois, feels like the one who controls the space. Plus the cute pop Mana-sama as Malice Mizer in Deep Sanctuary and the boss of Moi dix Mois. I think it's very interesting that he shows a completely different side to the dark Mana-sama and that he has many different faces.

To Seth:

He is really serious and sensitive. Originally, Seth-san and I were acquaintances before we joined Moi dix Mois, but our first meeting was at a drinking party.
Seth as a vocalist is really amazing. Eight years have passed since I joined Moi dix Mois and he is a formidable person who continues to evolve. Originally, her singing ability was amazing, but her expressiveness and vocal range have evolved tremendously…I think she's a truly terrifying person.

To Sugiya:

Just as I imagined, calm as well educated...
That's what I want to say, but actually, he also has a lively side, and I arbitrarily think, "There's a similar side to me." The details are fine, but they're pretty rough like me (laughs). I really love Sugiya as a musician. The main melody of the Moi dix Mois song is vocals and guitar, but I feel like Sugiya is a little different from a normal bassist, playing the background melody on bass.

To Hayato:

Hayato says, "I feel like I'm going my own way." With one voice, they all said something that made everyone jump. As a drummer, I would like to say to Hayato-san: "Please continue more and more in the future" (laughs). Even now, he's still freaking out, but I hope he's even more violent.

Seriously, I know you're not proofreading this machine translation at all if it refers to Mana and Seth as "she".

I check it but it happened to me. thanks for noticing. You are wrong about the translation since I translate it into English from Japanese, but in a hurry it has passed me.

I'll keep it in mind for the future, thanks. Flowersofnight.
