I think the reason why there is quite a bit of forum drama is because people take things too seriously here. Why would anyone get upset over what someone else in some other state said over the internet?

I started a thread to ignite musical discussion and I got called a pompous know it all. To tell you the truth, I found the whole incident rather funny. I'm not going to start crying because someone holds their own view about me. People have minds of their own and I can't stop them from thinking what they want to think nor do I want to stop them from having a mind of their own.

I think I even recall an incident where someone said something along the lines of "Oh, well the way you typed it out made it sound like you were personally attacking me"

What the hell?

Its not like you have eye contact or you can see face gestures. Its text for goodness sake, lol.

Anyway, if you are personally attacked just ignore that person because if you retaliate with another personal attack then you are no better.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

The moderators have done so much for us - Flowers going out of his / her way to find rare demos and videos and personally hosting it on his / her own server which costs around $99 per month. I think the least we can do is show our appreciation by making his / her job easier.

Not to be an asshole.. but.. why not just follow your own advice? Everything I left is an indication of things you'd like people to do but aren't willing to do it yourself? Just doesn't make sense to me.

Oooh ooh! Don't be a... COMEDY DROMEDARY! :D :D :D
... :|

I think everyone would be well-served to just kind of chill out. I personally didn't see any major drama going on in the thread in question.

Oh and BTW I'm a "him" XD

On the internet, how you type something makes a world of difference. If you are being sarcastic or serious, it is hard to tell because readers can't tell the inflections of your words ^^; That's one of the reasons I use emoticons. People take things however they take them, and everyone should be ready for their posts to be taken out of the expected context =) There is a difference between:

"The new CD was really bad because the singer's voice sucked."

and

"I didn't really care for the new CD because the singer's style isn't my kind of music ^^; "

I think there's a bit of irony in posting a thread about forum drama... I dunno, it's just kind of like saying not to drive an SUV b/c it takes up too much gas, yet you're driving an SUV....Cause threads like really don't do much except stir up more drama, or at least put the 'drama' label on things that might not be drama, rather people just expressing their opinions in a way you might not like.

^ I agree. We all argue. We should just try our best to not do it. Kind of like the person preaching about gas prices with the SUV, but they still drive it. If they drove it less, it would take care of it to some extent. So if we try to stop, it won't be fool proof, or make everyone fell better, but it's the best option.

I agree that people take things too seriously here. Well at least I DO.
I just get the feeling that some people throw their "opinions" in the air just to annoy the others, which causes fights and so on...

I don't recall ever personally attacking anyone but if I did then I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I admit my opinions on things are a bit selfish and most would consider to be annoying but I wouldn't resort to name calling or personal bashing.

Like I said, if I have ever personally insulted you then I sincerely apologized.

^__^

All I am saying is that people shouldn't take the internet too seriously. Thats all.

When people say "it's just the internet" it doesn't make sense to me.. Because it's still people interacting in some way or another.

'Cause, seriously, people can still be offended by text, because it is text that someone actually had on their mind, and decided to put on the screen, so it's just like talking to them, minus the voice.

I agree on that one. Because all you've got is text...no tones of speech or body langauge. And also, internet connections can make problems, with somebody being taken the wrong way and then going offline...gives people more time to think about what they've said and start a drama.

That was a legitimate post, faith! Why'd you delete it? :P

The pen is mightier than the sword, and as a writer, I stand by that completely. Literary skills and an understanding of sentence structure are invaluable in order to properly get one's feelings across in the manner intended.......look at that, you got me writing all fancy, gee thanks! ::meev::

My point is that if you consider how many people there are in this world and the massive amounts of different opinions, then you shouldn't be surprised that there will be people who will oppose you and sometimes have opinions which you may or may not find offensive.

Ultimately, you are alone and trapped within your own consciousness - No one will ever see, taste, smell, hear, sense or experience things the same way you do. You are the only person who can truely understand who you really are and no one else.

The reason I found the incident of someone insulting me funny is because they as well as everyone else here, lives miles away - i've never met with anyone here and no one even knows my real name, let alone the life I have lived. For all you guys know, I could be the biggest asshole on the planet or I could be the nicest guy on earth. I mean think about it - you're going to allow yourself to get upset over what someone who lives miles away from you, doesn't even know you said about you? Come on now.

Anyway my point is that people take things too seriously here. People need to chill out[/i]

Maybe it's just the time of the month for certian people (NOT in periods way if some smart alec posts that) or maybe the whole forum. But I blame it onto the mods, some time you guys can be harsh to some people, and these people react and then before you know it, every body is rule bashing each other then it because this "forum" drama.

So Basically.

Mods being a bit unfair + angry people + rule bashing = Forum Drama.

We need to get to the root of the problem......is there some sort of online councilling for forums? Each member can chip in and pay the treatment fee

Now that was a joke with the treatment thingy, that is a prime example that people can react badly to that joke , and some will see it as harmless. Some may see this as a fair point, some may see this as me being an asshole or an attack at the mods or just an excuse to rule bash and tell me off. What ever rules members have broken or you think have. Just leave it all to the mods  Tis a simple soloution, and don't take offence to anything here, because it is ONLY TEXT nothing physical. And also if you disagree with something, sure voice it! But theres a difference between saying "Hey I think you should shut up this is rule breaking" and saying "I don't like that album very much" and you are not the mods, only the mod (flowers) decides what is wrong and what should be locked etc..... And stop it with the "I SMELL A LOCK" posts and similar posts like that, It is a waste of time, So please.

Don't tell people off or contradict them even if they have done wrong. Leave it to the mods ::beat::
