So is Masquerade jazzy? :D
I like jazz, so if this is a good jazzy song, I might like it! ^^
EDIT: Just read hana-chan's post above. :| Well, I'm still looking forward to hearing Kaya's/Kalm's attempt at jazz! XD

This single has surpassed my expectatives thou. O_o
I was just expecting more "decadent dance music" yet I read "ADD MORE BOOZE" or something equally raunchy was on a song's lyrics and now there's JAZZ? :O
Seems like Kaya's all over the place. XD In a good way. :)

Masquerade sucked egregiously. It was just repetitive and noisy and annoying. I usually like jazz things too, but not this time.
I did however like the 5-second part with the finger snaps, but that's about it. XD

Psycho Butterfly was by far the better of the two. Still rather repetitive and a bit too long, but the general idea of the song worked pretty well. The song is quite characteristic of Kalm, I think.

I'm glad I didn't actually buy this. :P

While I completely disagree, finding Psycho Butterfly to be utterly boring due to the lack of vocal direction, and Masquerade being fun and adventurous for Kaya and.. in jazz terms, well composed, none of Kaya's work strikes me as something I would purchase.

You guys should support kaya ::kaya:: guess whos talking

I would if an album was released. Unfortunately, I don't find the singles so good that I would go out of my way to purchase them for only two songs. :\

I heard a clip of Masquerade accidentally *which is bad because I want it to be a surprise* I don't think it's bad though. When you concentrate on the lyrics and the theme of the song (and Kaya's voice which I think matches the theme perfecly o_o) it really threw me somewhere far away. I can't wait anymore but I have a month at least to go *rolls down the stairs*

Gahhh I suck so badly.

I've always liked this kind of a world he's heading for now, and I'm extremely happy to see it through him ::squee:: and the world is the main thing to me~ I'm not interested in music or singers I'm interested in the world they create, that's really helpful in some cases. Though when it comes to Kaya, I admit that it's personal >_>; no one ever gets what I mean with that so I guess this is the reason for me to stop following this thread too, so we won't get a new scandal ::erm::

Holy toledo, its jazzy? Not that I don't like it but whenever I hear about Jazzy and something Japanese I keep thinking "Chameleon no Seppun" ::meev:: so yeah, I have these strange memories come back

I'm awfully curious now...I wanna see if it IS really bad ::squee:: or maybe I'll like it?

I have to agree. It sounds so messy and disorganized. It reminds me of this really horrible track in one of my Darkstalker games...aswell as christmas parties that take place in shoddy bars where your co-workers try to feel you up o.O

I'm starting to think the same thing, though I WANNA like it.. But though the chorus is okay, the song just doesn't feel right..

@Duality: I know just what you're saying with the Darkstalkers thing. XD

just got mine... i liked it, but they i felt they wld have rocked if they were just instrumentals. while kaya has nice vocals, they did not really do with songs (or maybe i'm unconciously pinning for dada? :P ).

masquerade
i really enjoyed the opening, and then kaya started singing and it just did not go - kaya needs to practice singing to jazz songs, since this song has a lot of potential. which made me sad, since i enjoyed the melody.

pscho butterfly
kaya's vocals were better - maybe because he's more used to dance/techno. this song is good, but a bit too typical, nothing to make it really stand out. but i did like.

overall, i did enjoy the cd despite the criticisms, and i like the fact both kaya and kalm are trying to do something different (masquerade), but it still feels as if they are still not aware of each other strengths and weaknesses - but i guess that will come w/ time.

and how come kalm doesn't get his own photo page?

KALM isn't part of Kaya O__O I'm guessing that's why he doesn't get his own photos, he just composed the music, but the artist is still Kaya as a solo artist. ::shifty::

Either way, I was just romanizing the lyrics for another forum >_> <_< and I was wondering if anyone else hears Kaya sing 'ima' at the end of Psycho Butterfly, where the lyrics say 'genjitsu'. >_> I know he did this kind of thing before RS/SS (write one word, sing another), but I haven't noticed it after that, which is why I thought I'd ask. ^_^;;

Not only that, but maybe Kalm wouldn't want his own photos?
He doesn't perform anymore after all, even though he has been writing songs.
(and he's a bit old to still be into visually-based music if he's around the same age as the rest of VE minus Hora)

However, I do think it's important to remember that without him Kaleidoscope wouldn't have been.

I really don't know if I should buy it ....
I LOVED Kaleidoscope (but it was limited, right? I'm too late?)
but well..Masquerade...
I really like Psycho Butterfly! After listening to it, I wanted to hear it a second time and a third and a forth... but masquerade itself didn't really made me all happy... I like the opening and the chorus, but I don't think the song fits Kaya's voice.

But Psycho Butterfly's great :D

I just got mine and I think that Masquerade isn't that bad really, but Kaya's vocals don't suit the song quite as I had hoped. I really like Psycho Butterfly, though. I thought that overall the single was good.

Masquerade almost worked, but fake brass sounds are this decade's keytars. Using them is code for "i am a colossal douchebag."

Psycho Butterfly I remember digging. It was good for a b-side, and it would make great filler on an album. WHICH I AM NOT SUGGESTING KAYA DO. (even though I distinctly remember hoping that Kozi would put Honey Vanity on Catharsis, and he didn't; he put out a remix on his next single; which was like he magically listened to what I wanted but then decided to do just the opposite, and furthermore make it a total piece of crap...)

I don't really know where Kaya's going with all of this. Is he gonna worth with Klam (I'M KEEPING THE TYPO. I EXPECT MUCH RIFFING ON IT.), and eventually cut a non-crappy, non-cheating album? Or just do this here and there like Hora's doing? However, Kaya solo far outshines Hora, and even 'reuniting' made them suck even worse (IF YOU LIKED ANOTHER CELL WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS FOR A WEEK), so if that were his eventual decision I would be more than a bit disappointed.

The next single should be completely experimental and awful so that these boys can get all the "pent-up creative energy" out of their system and then cut a really good album.

It's late and I'm tired and on a high from the Culture Festival; so sue me.

I sort of imagine Kaya would rather try to find someone who cares, because judging by this single, Kalm obviously doesn't.
I don't mean that as a gratuitous slam either. (well, not JUST as one ;)) Kaya needs to find someone who's really on board with the whole concept.

I actually rather liked this single. :|
I preferred Psycho Butterfly over the title track, though.

@ Elec: I refuse to take seriously anyone who dislikes the Honey Vanity remix.

(Sorry for offtopic. )

Am I the only person here that is reminded of Lunesta commercials when listening to Psycho Butterfly?

Also: I actually rather liked this single, in spite of everyone else's seeming dissappointement.

then again, i like practically every kind of music in existence. o.o;

Hear, hear! Hark thee shouldest know better than to say things like that by now! :P ::meev:: (if only to avoid the "Kalm's holding Kaya back from his true potential" rumors, which would be completely unfounded).

Kalm was working on Kaleidoscope and Remains of Mind for a LONG time before they waere released, and from accounts quite serious. Besides, look at all that he's done for him in terms of connections.

EDT: Pardon thine poor fool, but I didest want to make this soundeth sillyeth.

You are the wind beneath my wings O_O My thoughts exactly! And it was one of the 2 songs I liked from the first 2 singles...

I just got my copy of the single today, it looks good, I'll listen to it tonight and decide if I like it ^__^
