In PR, it's not required for the wife to take the husband's last name, but many still do as a form of tradition. My mother refused to change her last name because she thinks it's demeaning and likes her last names too much. Apparently for the ex-in laws, that was a huge deal breaker.

I wouldn't change my last name if I ever get married, but I would change my middle names in a heartbeat.

I didn't change my name. My stepfather adopted me after my mother died and gave me my last name so it has some meaning to me. Also, I just saw no reason to change it and my husband didn't expect me to.

Similarly, I didn't expect an engagement ring or a fancy wedding. We got married in Vegas and don't even have wedding bands.
And because of all this you're in a failing miserable marriage right? AM I RIGHT!?

@Eville: I'd also change my middle name or do away with it completely. But at the same time I'm torn since it is my middle name after all, I'd feel weird without it, but it sounds so out of place when compared to my first and last names. My dad still doesn't know why I have it. ::meev::

@adonis: oh my gosh XD

I voted yes.

But i'm not changing it so much as I am discarding it.

I am getting rid of all the letters in my name except for the first of my first name.

I am D.

I voted "No, keeping my own," though I'm a guy so that's kind of standard.

Though I am engaged, and my fiancé is taking my last name when we're married.

OMG congratulations! :grin:

About the engagement, not that you're keeping your own name or anything ::meev::
