Why *do* so many people hate Gackt?

Oh, well, by "visual" I thought you meant "visual kei". But yes, you'd be right then. He does put on a great show.

I honestly dont understand how people can say he isnt visual anymore. Have any of you seen ANY of his concerts? Pretty much every one of his concerts have HUGE theatical performances, with costume changes, props, other people to add to the presentation. He doesnt just sit out there and sing and dance around. He actually does skits that go along with the story of his albums.

That's because he's a crazy obsessive perfectionist who's got a *really* big story to convey to us. XD

And that is why he is loved, as well as hated, imho. -.^

I think if anyone ask him if he consider himself as a visual musician right now, probably he would say "not at all", I mean, after has been a member of Malice Mizer, the most emblematic band of visual-kei what's next , you could only go down in that terms and he understood perfectly, but I think his particular style right now, fits him very well and has more freedom to do any kind of stuff not only one type of music

Actually, he wouldnt deny anything about Malice Mizer, because, besides Mana, he is the only other one who has said that he was proud of being a member of Malice Mizer.

Where as (Yes I like Kozi alot), Kozi has jumped to say he isnt visual kei and stuff of the sort, which is really kind of sad.

I think that Kozi saying he isn't visual kei does not automaticaly mean that he was not proud of Malice Mizer.

Regarding Gackt, well...i think he is proud of MM, but i don't get it why he had to write all those things about his departure after 6 years...i think it was not fair to the other members.

And i agree with you that he is a visual artist.

but talking about Kozi, maybe he said that thinking in his actual work, not in his malice mizer years (I mean Kozi loved Malice Mizer and he was also one of the band creators, I haven´t doubt about that), the same with Gackt, and that isn't deny his roots all the contrary, is give more credit to those years, like they were so good that it just can't be repeated or emulated

I really think the songs written for Malice Mizer displayed Gackt's vocal range and singing talent far more than the songs in his solo career. I think Gackt can do so much more than what his recent work suggests.

I disagree. While I'm a little disappointed in his vocal inflections in his most recent two albums, everything before that is extremely solid, surpassing his vocal range in Malice. I don't recall many high falsetto bits that sounded crystal-clear as they do in Ares, 4th, Tsuki no Uta, Leeca, some others... plus there's the odd-singing he does in Illness Illusion, the sheer strength and power of Secret Garden, raw emotion in Freesia... nothing in the MM catalogue is as impressive, as I discern it.

I said "recent work", (meaning Diabolos and some of Love Letter) not the songs from his earlier albums. While I agree with you about the songs you suggested and his vocal capabilities in each, I enjoyed the MM "style" of music more and therefore enjoyed Gackt's singing in MM over his solo career solely based on my musical preferences.

I'm not bashing Gackt at all. I paid $540 to see his Diabolos tour. Both my wallet and I like Gackt very much.

In regards to Kozi saying he's not visual kei. That's taken way out of context. When he says he's not visual kei. He's said that in referring to what he's doing with Eve of Destiny. Eve of Destiny is constantly being confused by people that they are a visual kei band, or a jrock band. They are neither. They are a japanese goth/industrial band. Which has nothing to do with either of those two musical scenes or genres.

I don't know if he's said the same thing in regards to his solo efforts. That I cannot be certain on because there's been little to no tranlastions done on any of the articles he's been in covering his solo works.

I find it odd that he sings all these love songs and has deep love songs that are very well written and beautiful, yet he thinks marriage isnt a big deal and if you feel like cheating then you should, which I highly disagree to the greatest extent. It seems like he makes those love songs, but he himself doesnt really understand what true love is, or has a very high opinion of what love should be.

I don't like love letter and either the seventh night album :? but he insist that Love Letter is just a valentines gift to his fans like a parenthesis in his usual work or something like that, if I put this way it makes a lot more sense, but still don't like it, (I just saw it like this typical special christmas albums, that some bands make once in a while )....

and i think gackt believes that when you truly love someone you don't need to marry them or something.....you just stay together, because you feel like it and you enjoy the person's company. I think that he is not being hypocrite or something of the sort.

Even if he did get married again, I think there will be a storm among of the overprotecting fangirls.
They would not leave them at peace if that ever happened!

I think one of the reasons why people might be against Gackt is because he left Malice Mizer.
Some fans find MM not to be the same without him and some are just selfish. The selfish fans
don't like the idea of Gackt goin 'mainstream' by going into a major record label and creating music other
than what Malice Mizer would have done.

That or they have issues with people his blood type
