Who do you think is the best guitarist?

This is another hard choose. I really don’t know who I’m going to choose yet. I'm really going to have think for a while. Who do you think the best guitarist is?

Sugizo from Luna Sea: is definitely a great guitarist. I’m still new to Luna Sea. I’ve only heard Genesis of Mind, Rosier, Gravity, and Virgin Mary. I think he’s absolute great but I probably don’t truly appreciate how good he really is because I haven’t heard that many songs yet.

hide from X-Japan: What can I say, hide is probably one of the best guitarist ever. Right up there with Sugizo. His great solos and not to mention he is a excellent composer.

Ken from L’arc~en~ciel: Nobody ever talks about Ken but in my opinion he is a great guitarist and Laruku would not be the same band without him. I love his style and he seems to get better and better. Not to mentioned he composed Neo Universe which is like my favorite L’arc~en~ciel so far. He needs to compose more songs.

Mana from Malice Mizer: In my opinion, Mana is a medicore guitarist but I think his main strength is his composing skills. Le Ciel and Bel Air are great songs.

Kaoru from Dir en grey: I think Kaoru is a good guitarist not as good as hide or Sugizo but still pretty good. Like Mana I think his main strength is composing skills –mushi-, Akuro no oka and Macabre are all masterpieces, in my opinion.

The only guitarist I like for his guitar playing is Hirasawa, but he's not one of the choices. You should add him
As far as composing, I'd pick Mana from that list.

Those are all extremely talented guitar players, but I just had to choose Mana because I love his music. Though I've heard Jun from Phantasmagoria is very comparable to those listed up there.

Mana. His presentation is beautiful & he puts on a good show. When the Synth.s are removed & you actually get to hear his talent, it's awesome.

After really thinking about this I'm going to have to pick hide. Mainly because he is such a great guitarist and because he expressed such diversity in the songs he wrote in his solo career.

hide. I may seem like a Malice Mizer "fanboy" but even I can say Mana isn't the greatest guitarist in the world. It's true, his compositions are simply beautiful (moreso in the early days) but I can't say he's the greatest out of the 5 and would actually say he's the worst out of the 5

There's no support guitarist Sayuki from Velvet Eden in the list ;_; He's my favorite (Especially on sakasu biyou (sp)) But from the list, I have to say Mana (Tetsu era/Gackt era and Matenrou with a few exceptions later on) I miss his guitar duets with Kozi, I don't think his guitar parts are nearly as good anymore

My favorite is actually Mayu of LAREINE or HIZAKI (ex. Crack brain & Schwardix Marvally, now solo). But like flowers, for composition reasons; Mana.

hide no doubt about it. hide is very skilled in terms of playing guitar. My second choice would be Mana. Even though Mana and hide have very different styles of music and guitar playing...

I chose Mana. But I think you forgot to add Shima from Concerto Moon and Die from Diru.
My second choice would be hide. I think he and Mana have equal skills.

Die from Diru.

Die's guitar parts are more rhythmic and generally easier. Kaoru's guitar parts are broken up and usually include solos and are more difficult to play. I still think he is good but not as good as Kaoru.

I think he and Mana have equal skills.

You're kidding right? O.o hide's guitaring close to unmatched I'd only say Sugizo (who you should have a lot more votes) reveals him. Mana's guitar work doesn't really stand out in any of his songs. I mean when I listen to Malice Mizer I never go like "oh that's Mana playing," when you listen to Luna Sea you know it's Sugizo, or X-Japan you know hide is controlling the song, when you listen to Dir en grey (early Dir en grey) you know Kaoru is playing. I think Mana is a good composer and that's about it. I agree with a lot of the people here, I guess Kozi can be added to the poll. Flowersofnight you can add Kozi to the poll if you want.

This poll is rather scary in the fact of MM fandom. The poll isn't about composition skills, it's about guitar skills... And Mana doesn't have much skill on guitar (even if you are the world's biggest Malice Mizer fanboy/girl you have to realise that Mana's skills are nowhere NEAR as great as the others..)

And Mana doesn't have much skill on guitar (even if you are the world's biggest Malice Mizer fanboy/girl you have to realise that Mana's skills are nowhere NEAR as great as the others..)

Maybe Mana just hasn't really shown what he's capable of? Even though there are many more simple songs a guitarist plays for a band, a guitarist playing for as long as they have is bound to have a good amount of skill.
