Case already posted about this on Malice Aftermath but I thought it would be a good idea to re-post it here.

The Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany (the world’s biggest goth festival with around 20,000 visitors every year) has a poll up in which you can vote for the bands you would like to see playing there in 2005. Depending on the amount of votes each band achieves the organisers will decide which bands to contact. The bands up for voting include - Eve of Destiny and Moi dix Mois:

In order to vote you have to be a registered member of the forum. Voting instructions (also in English – scroll down) are here:

Get voting! :D

Even if you're not going or they don't end up playing this time it's good that festival organisers see a band's popularity. Especially huge festivals like this. It helps the band out a lot in the long run.

Voted for both EOD and M10M, for pure support. I have no interest in gothic festivals.

(I'm really, REALLY hoping Mana carries through with his intention of a European tour this winter, though. Tickets to Europe are cheap in the winter, and my dad said I could go. *implodes with glee*)

I voted! When is WGT? Does anyone know the dates?
It is from 13 May to 16 May 2005, which is the weekend of Pentecost (a big public holiday in Germany). The exact band line up will eventually be announced here:

I agree with amasanin - the chances of them actually getting to play there are slim (especially M10M - at least EoD played WGT before) but anything that will bring them to the attention of the organisers of such a big festival can only be good. EoD are already targeting a goth audience but I think the goth crowd would absolutely love M10M. And goth is huge in Germany - if they can establish themselves in that scene they've got it made.

I still can't believe they even made it into the poll.

If Moi dix Mois went to WGT, I would do everything in my power to go!

I voted for EoD, MdM doesn't need the exposure no matter how cool it'd be to see them there.

I think the extra exposure they would get by playing at WGT would be beneficial for them because it would help them dissociate themselves from the anime / manga scene that J-Rock bands tend to get lumped together with because they happen to be Japanese (and because they look weird). Con appearances and so on may be a convenient way to get your name about but, as much as I like manga, I think in the long run it will almost certainly be counterproductive. Once the anime / manga craze in Europe dies down the bands too will be considered yesterday's news. I actually doubt that M10M will get enough votes to get invited to WGT but if they did it would introduce them to a new (older) audience that is less susceptible to fashion trends and would appreciate them for their music rather than primarily for being Japanese.
