So I've been wanting to ask you guys this for a while now XD I'm sure a lot of you have seen the movie, The Wizard of Oz, right? I was watching the "Top 100 Scariest Movies" show or something, and The Wizard of Oz was in the top 100 (I don't remember the reasons why).

But I don't get it, when I was little I must have seen this movie a hundred times and I never got scared. And isn't it one of those movies EVERYONE has to see when they're little or something? XD I loved the Wicked Witch of the West too XD

Why would it be scary? (the munchkins or the flying monkeys?) Do you guys think this movie is scary? ::kisaki::

I think the munchkins are kind of disturbing, but I've never understood children's fear of the flying monkeys. Seriously, of all the things in that movie, why the monkeys?

It's not even close to a horror movie.

If you love the wicked witch of the west you would deff. love the musical Wikced, it is te story before 'dorethy' get's in the story and basicly tells the life of Elphaba, the wicked witch of the west.
I saw it twice when I went to Londen, really a must see!

As for the film The wizard of oz it self, I always loved it as a child.
No scary stuff.

I've loved the book since I was a young 'un. Never found it frightening the least bit. That picture you posted above, does look kinda freaky though.

The Judy Garland film isn't horror in the least. I agree with with Cerceaux and Han'i. xD

I think if you wanted to make it into a horror, you'd have to take the story directly from the book (the book has more chopping, dismemberment, and neck-snapping) and darken it up.

I chose "a little" ::meev::

I never found it scary, but I remember being upset when Dortothy got locked in the room with the hourglass. But I tended to get a little too involved with movies as a child. ::batsu::

Wouldn't call it horror by any stretch, though. It wasn't even horror for the time period.

Snow White was a horror movie. When I was a little munchkin I'd make my parents cover my eyes when the witch came on XD

I remember being scared when i saw Snow White: A Tale of Terror on Tv as a kid. The cupboard scene scared me the most.

Me too! When I saw Beauty and the Beast, I had tears of joy when the Beast turned into a man. ::kisaki:: I was also upset when Scar died :(

I read the book too and a few of the other books when I was little and I liked it! I don't know why but I remember it being a little creepy at times though.

...and that picture is not creepy! XDD ::gaku::

When I was little the wicked witch scared me. I think it was that orange smoke. XD So odd. Nowadays I don't find it scary in the least...so I voted "a little" since I WAS scared at one point

i was scared s--tless by the monkeys. (liked them in my school play though. watching theater kids run around in tights, monkey tails and wings is pretty entertaining. Got to watch that every time we had pit orchestra rehearsal. Made us all lol every time.

Idunno if my opinion counts though. i was also scared of Barney and Big Bird and Elmo.
i was also scared of Jack Skellington and was forced to watch it by my dad (childhood trauma?) (finally watched it two years ago. and loved it)
I liked Oscar the Grouch though. and Cinderella. ::meev::

There are a lot of things out there more scary than OZ

take Richard Simons for example.... ::shifty::

ROFL, Richard Simmons is really scary comparing it to the Wizard of Oz.

I voted no. Why would the Wizard of Oz be scary? D:

No way! I never found this film scary at all - loved it as a child and still do now (it's my Christmas tradition to watch it, or at least by New Years anyways! XD).

I remember the crappy sequel being a little creepy though - wasn't there a corridor of heads or something? I had a nightmare after watching that one as a child anyways... XD
