The timing of the hiatus announcement?

Does anyone know or have any information about the timing of the hiatus announcement? Was it a shock, coming out of nowhere or were the rumours of it, was it something that fans saw coming?

As far as I can see the band seemed to be doing well, they had three singles under the belt and the movie on the horizon.

I don't recall ever reading anything on this topic, so I would be very interested to know!

I don't know if fans on the ground in Japan had any info, but it was certainly a surprise to me XD They were planning an album at the time (which some sites even listed for preorder), so it's not like they were intentionally winding the whole thing down or anything.
The only "off" thing I remember at the time was that they had to cancel their mini-live tour because Yu~ki got injured.... but he obviously got better XD

Was there any information about the album apart from the tracklist that floats around?

Was this connected to the album at all? I hadn't seen this picture until recently and the 'looks' seem far too involved to not be used for anything.

Nah, those all are actually pre-built costumes you just stick your head into for the picture. I think there's actually a pic out there of other people in them.

I know it sounds silly, but I was serious XD They aren't actually full costumes, what you see is all there is.
Maybe it wasn't someone else in the costume I saw, it might have been a pic of them putting Mana or Kozi into it or something. But I definitely did see something that made it obvious what was really going on.

Besides which, look, Kozi's obviously sticking his head through a wall here

After all these years I'm still stumbling across images I haven't seen before... I'm guessing that these were part of a postcard set?

They were photos you could get printed out at Digicube kiosks. There was actually a 3rd set of these as well (in addition to a "Shiroi..." set and supposedly a Merveilles-era one), but I don't have it.

EDIT: Also, you can see pics of Mana, Kozi, and Yu~ki in these "outfits" in Ma Cherie issues #20 and 21. Not enough to settle the question of whether they were "real", but they're a little more real than I thought.

Agh, I don't have #20 (or #1)! I do have #21 fortunately though!

Although I'm not too sure what a digicube kiosk is?

It is a shame that there isn't more information on these costumes, Klaha's doesn't do much for me but the others would be some of my favourites!

There's a picture of the kiosk itself in #20 XD It's just a sort of machine you could get stuff printed at, or buy CDs from, etc.
