Has anyone here applied and went to the interview for the MEXT scholarship (for graduate students)?
I applied and was summoned for exams and interview tomorrow
So how did it go?

On the perfume topic: I wear this:
http://www.muglerusa.com/fragrances-women-alien/w4120/
Even though the ad copy is ludicrously girly ::meev::
I fucked it up bad ::weepy::
I had been preparing for various questions but when I got there, what they asked me for was a long f** self inroduction :P (and other things but I felt like the focus was on my introduction) I first said my name, age and what I've studied. Then they just stared at me. So I got even more uncomfortable, smiled and said I wasn't quite sure what it was they wanted to hear. They changed topic but later the guy said he wanted me to talk about myself some more  like where I was born. At first I couldn't help but to think, why is that even interesting? Then I realised what he probably was fishing for was to know the origin of my name, which is not swedish.
But yeah, I was so nervous I couldn't even come up with anything to say when they asked if I had anything I wanted to add, despite the fact I barely had said anything of all that I planned to convice them with. The Japanese questions wasn't really hard, but my mind was blanc so I screwed up short/masu form :P (I used masu kara, instead of using short form and then kara for example) also she asked me to briefly explain my reserach, that was hard...I thought they'd ask me..like what I did on my free time :P

So yeah, not gonna get that :P

Sorry it didn't go well >_< Are you still going to try studying in Japan some other way?
Yeah, there's exchanges offered on advanced level now at my university. Although it's very few and non of those universities in Japan has any courses related to my research :P and it's harded to get any of those exchange places now that I'm a graduate >_< I just wanna go back to Japan ::hora::

EDIT:
About the perfumes, I've always had a hard time with Thierry Mugler's fragrances.... I remember smelling the first Alien thinking it smelled like the thing you use to remove nailpolish....
My favorite perfume for the moment is Paco Rabanne, Lady Million but I use some cheap Christina Aguilera perfume I got as a gift....it smells nice though....but not as good as Paco ::gaku::

No, they never told me I didn’t make it, but based on my poor performance, the fact the Japanese exam was really hard and the other students I assume so :P We were 7 people there, 2 from my university I know is really good at Japanese, 1 guy said he studied linguistics so I assume he’s awesome, and 2 of the others already had established contact with a university and professor in Japan. The only thing on my plus side is that my adviser at the university who wrote my letter of recommendation told me 3 others would apply for this (the third didn’t get summoned for interview and exams) but in his opinion they’re research topic wasn’t as strong as mine (and I dressed up in a suit ::gaku:: ). BUT, on the other hand I did so bad at the interview and at the Japanese exam (I assume) I probably have to become one of those who has to apply over and over. Hopefully they’ll get so sick of my application turning up they’ll give it to me at some point :P

Ooo, the heart shaped bottle looked really cute ^^ I’ve always liked fragrances on the “matureâ€￾ side :P but I feel like they don’t really suit me that well, hence me usually just wearing stuff like Jennifer Lopez or similar…. Lady million and a tiny bottle of Dior Hypnotic poison are the only “realâ€￾ brands I have.

Man, I haven't played that since back when it came out, on the original lousy GBA with no backlight ::meev::

@Cerceaux: Youtube ::meev::

I've been on Twitch streams when playing Rainbow Six Siege XD Not my own, but the people I play with sometimes broadcast their games. I like watching people play video games on Youtube, but more commentary/comedy type videos. But these on Twitch are literally watching someone play the game and that's it, if that's what you like.

Good luck! Even if you don't get this I hope there is another opportunity for you to go to Japan. It's strange that there aren't more graduate programs (I think you said you're a graduate student?) to go there! I hope you don't feel too bad right now, especially when you don't actually know the results yet. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

(and I dressed up in a suit ::gaku:: )
Seriously, YOU GOT THE JOB~ Suits are the best! :B

Man, the dates and times for the photography opening night show and closing party are set now. Magazines with my babies in them will be on sale at the closing party. IT'S GETTING REAL!

Shannen said, "I will go and say quite loudly who is this? I've never seen such amazing photography. Look at this talent! And everyone will huddle around your photos. It will be amazing."
She's the best XD

This is my post that I'm using to procrastinate on my cases right now XD I'm going to a reception in our building in an hour with Jennifer so I'm still here doing my bankruptcy petitions... *shuffles off*

^I thought only poopdiepiehole on YouTube actually made a living doing that though...
Otherwise there are more people who love being bored than I realized.

PE: Lol yeah, it's like 80% video game crap now. Those Skyrim parodies were pretty funny though.

Yeah, PewDiePie probably made the most, but there are a lot of others that have done pretty well and that is just in the YouTube business.

Over in Twitch and streaming land, people are regularly making thousands every day, not to mention sponsorships as well, a lot of women do exceptionally well as well.

Just think cam-girls, except instead of sex acts, they're playing video games.

No way, don't you know Vanoss and H20 Delirious?! Those are my favorite gaming channels. But their videos are edited in fun ways and H20 Delirious's commentary is amazing and hilarious so I don't mind watching him play, especially when he plays with his equally funny friends.

I just can't imagine watching people on Twitch play the games without anything fun attached. Like, I can just play the game myself, why would I want to see you play? XD For me there has to be more...

So, I attended the reception and I had such an EPIC moment. There was a door prize so everyone who attended the reception (it was open to summer interns/associates) had a ticket. At the end of the reception the winning number would be announced and the big prize was a Kindle Fire HD.

I mingled with a few law school friends who came by along with Jennifer, and I made new friends! I even ran into a guy who was in love with me my senior year of college, but it wasn't awkward!

Anyway, the big moment arrived and we all took out our tickets.

The announcer started reading off the numbers, and we groaned as we didn't get it. But no one claimed the prize. Apparently the person with the winning ticket wasn't around!

The announcer said he'd pick another one. He read off each number one by one. SO FAR SO GOOD FOR ME.

He got to the second to last digit and he asked, "Anyone still in the running?" Me and one other guy raised our hands. OMG the suspense.

Then he said, "The last number is ZERO." OMG I SCREAMED!!!!

I WAS THE WINNER!!!!!!!! Cameras flashed as I praised the lord, did a victory screech, the works XD I was just so happy because when does this type of thing ever happen??

I got my prize and it's beautiful. This is like when I won my baby alpaca at the arcade in Shanghai.

Forget whatever I said about not using e-readers. I already re-read the last pages of Jane Eyre and re-read some of Mrs. Dalloway. Unlike other tablets, you can upgrade the amount of memory to 128GB by inserting an SD card which is amazing. So I basically have a second iPad (which also has 128GB)! (It also has a ton of apps to use, video things, games, email/calendar, a double-sided CAMERA, etc.)

But I want to use this one for actually reading and learning. The amount of classic and non-classic works they have for free is amazing, and I actually felt amazed at the amount of books just in my hand, that I can carry anywhere and read any time. It's also really easy to use and for some reason I like reading on it better than on my iPad. This won't replace actual books for me, but I'm definitely going to use this more often!

I can't wait to read! ::batsu:: ::batsu:: ::batsu:: I've already downloaded a ton of Woolf, Bronte, Spanish/Mandarin language books, Bel Ami by Maupassant (I love that book), etc.

My classmates congratulated me and couldn't believe I won. Jennifer was happy for me and said she'd be as happy as I was! She said she'd milk it for all its worth, the glory. I said, "Ah, it's hard being a winner~~~" which made her laugh and say, "Oh God." XD

It's just, like, so hard, you know?

Actually, I was kind of surprised it was just me and one other guy who wore a suit, the rest wore jeans or other casual pants, with sneakers. I’d feel weird showing up like that…I mean I’m there to ask the Japanese state to fund my research, the least I could do is dress up XD
I also realized I rather enjoyed it. My conclusion: I need to get a job in which I have to wear a suit every day. OLã￾«ã￾ªã‚Šã￾Ÿã￾„ ::gaku::

And yes, I’m a graduate student, so I applied to get a scholarship to do a master’s degree in Japan.

Good luck with that ::meev:: Here the suit has become as much of a specialized costume as the British judge's getup or the clerical collar.
These days I'm actually surprised when the people who come in to be interviewed by me wear a suit and tie. I don't even bother wearing one to conduct the interviews anymore ::meev::
Even when I go to the opera the vast majority of people aren't even wearing suits, let alone black-tie or whatever they wore back in the days of the Astors and Vanderbilts.

That's only because horse carriages are no longer allowed in NYC. ;)
