There hasn't been a poll for a while so..

What's yours? Mine is really lame.

Phantom <- illusion/ghost/apparition
Pabulum <- nourishment

So it's an unseen food, which is music.

I guess it doesnt really make sense ::erm::

edit: I hope this is allowed

Han'i is the name of my D&D character[/nerd]

It means "spirit of malice", or something like that.

Heeey! that's pretty cool!

I said this in the random thread years ago, but, when I was 12, I was reading The Magician's Nephew, and I thought it would be funny if, when Jadis threw the lamppost and the new one grew from the ground, Uncle Andrew had said "holy lampposts!"

And then I never found any reason to use something else.

This is a great poll!!

My username is my nickname. It's also the name I go by in real life. Only a few family members, Priss, and a few work people call me by my real name.

My username used to be MsJae (I added the ms to signify that I was indeed female, as Jae is generally a man's name.)

I've had the nickname Jae for years and years and years. It was given to me by a friend when I was in high school.

ooooooooh! everyone's explanations are so cool! :D
edit: hanachan, your explanations seems so dramatic with that Undine avatar. XDDD

My explanation is lameeee.... XD

The sailor part of my nickname comes from...well....Sailormoon. :P ::gaku::
I used to be known as sailorlove when I was little cuz even thou I liked sailor Moon a friend of mine forced me to like Sailor Venus XD
ANYWAYS, I ended up thinking the whole love thing was lame since i didn't understand it so I changed it for "Ka" because I have a weird things with the letter K(and the K is pronounced "Ka" in spanish.")!

The cool thing is, people who don't know anything about sailor moon think I have the nickname cuz I'm a REAL sailor or something. Which is damn cool cuz I have a slight obsession with maritime/oceanic themes like sailors & ships & swallows & anchors & Jean Paul Gaultier's gay sailor clothes/perfumes. ::squee:: XD

so yeah, it used to be for sailormoon but now I'm KA, THE SAILOR. ::kozi::

I used to go by neko, but changed it to Nekoi to be more... original?

I don't know. It just sort of happened.

What a wonderful poll! :D

As for myself, I always had a huge problem with nicknames. My first nickname was "Eternal flight"... wel, I agree, it's funny. But I was so young and always flew in the clouds. But I felt that it's not so good nick, so I was searching for another one. The my friend offered me my second nickname - "Mister Moon". The roots are in Sailor Moon as with SalorKa. But then I came into J-Rock. And decided that I need new nickname. Since the only person who interested me I chose very simple name - "Mana". And to specify that I'm male I added "-kun" to it. So I became "Mana-kun". But time passed and I more and more understood that I can't wear this name, it doesnt' suit me. And I started to use my real name, but as a tradition I add "-kun" to it.

As for this forum - when I registered I as asways had a problem choosing nickname. That time I very-very small obsession of MdM's K. And as always I added "-kun" and here we are! ::k::

Now, when my obsession finished long time ago I would like to change my nickname to my real name, but it's against forum rules.

::squee:: Wahh~~~! You're SUCH a sweetheart! I'd try a similar pun to punctuate how awesome YOU are, but I'd fail miserably.
....so I'll just add what you said to my sig to feed my ego. ::squee:: <333

edit: Its seriously interesting to read all you guys' stories about how you ended up with your current nick. XD

@K-kun: I think if you REAAALLY wanted to, the mods COULD change your username but you'd have to be VERY sure about your change and it would confuse us all anyways so... XD

As a ballet mad 12 year old I read the book "Geisha" by Liza Dalby and was struck by the similarities between both worlds and their dedication to a life of/for art. Plus, putting on my makeup before going to a club or concert feels like a bit of a ritual. Pale face, black eyeliner...

The Moi dix Mois song, lol. Some people have interesting origins to their username choice, and mine is very lame. I just liked the song a lot, and Nocturnal Opera just came out around the time scape re-appeared. I kinda have a craving to listen to it, now.

Well...I love elegant people. ::squee::

Scape was the first place I ever used the name and since it was related to MM, I was trying to think of a name related to it. I usually take forever to name things XD I saw a picture of Klaha in his Gardenia outfit, and came up with the name "PureElegance".
That's what I thought of him to be, pure elegance~ :B

Cerceaux Aeriens (aerial hoops) is my favorite Cirque du Soleil act, and circus act in general. Though it's sometimes shortened to "Cerceaux" which is a little more username-friendly.

See, I initially thought GarnetITE's name was some Irish thing. I'd never really listened to that song, so I had no idea it was MM lyrics. ::meev:: Doesn't it sound kinda Irish-y? Kinda-sorta? xD

Haku, from Naruto.

When I was in grade 9, someone was calling me, and called me 'Haku' because I had hair like Haku. The name stuck, even after my hair got curly. 8D

Also, I cosplayed Haku a couple of times, quite convincingly.

I think I love you more than I already did before. <3 Though now you have me thinking of Snake sneaking around in a cardboard box XD

As for mine, I've been known by Callisto Almasy for yeaaaaars. Long enough for the details behind the first half of the name to be completely forgotten.

Callisto is a reference to a Greek myth I used to be really fond of, and as for Almasy it was a Final Fantasy 8 reference. I just really liked the name "Almasy"

I am honestly known to more people as "Cally" than I am by my actual name. Even my boyfriend calls me Cally XD The only people who use my actual name is my immediate family and my coworkers.

(I usually don't read every post in a thread before I post, but I did just now. xD It's very interesting)

I joined this forum as "Dix Prince" ::meev:: ::meev:: ::meev::
Flowers PM'd me and was like "We already have a Dix Princesse" and I agreed to change it to avoid confusion, so I just opened up my japanese dictionary and looked up "Heavenly" and "Hell", with with I came up with "Amatsu Naraku" (and I added the tilde because I loved tildes.)

Now I'm stuck with the first half of a name that I created when I was like 13. D:

But I understand why it'd be difficult to change a members name, especially when they've been around for a while.
