I'm posting this separate because there are questions not just about Moi-même-Moitié but also about music and the recent MALICE MIZER concerts.

Two quick outtakes, Mana may be traveling to more places next year as part of Moi-même-Moitié. And there is now an official name for those long dresses and skirts and such that have been sold over the years. It's Elegant Gothic Madame. Now if they would start selling more of that again, the elegant goth crowd would love it.

Thanks for the info ! Would you have an example of the Elegant Gothic Madame aesthetic ?

While Mana hasn't said much more than about using quality fabrics, I do think his longer dresses and skirts fit more in the EGM than the other categories. Lolita's main identifying feature is the bell skirt, and some of the longer one piece dresses don't have that, even if they have similar designs. I remember Mana mentioning before using higher quality fabrics for certain clothing. There are a number of older pieces that I think would qualify, like this coat, featured in GLB in January, 2006.

GLB01-06.jpg I'll look through my images tonight and see what I can find.
tumblr_nt42e2mPgS1uyywflo2_540.jpg The skirt and gloves are more in like with EGM. Think of Mana's non-lolita and non-ega MALICE MIZER costumes, and that's more of the look. I wonder if creating the new costume made Mana think about this style? Skirts don't have to be long, but I think it's about the elegance of the clothing. EGA tends to be more tailored and structured and less decorative. This is from GLB, September 2002.

a0f8cbcb-feab-42f8-8f31-b4185e541e45.jpeg The long chiffon sheering shirt dresses that Mana wears a lot were also sold at that time and I think would also fit into the EGM catagory.

tumblr_nt42fnNAEd1uyywflo2_540.jpg This is from GLB November 2002. Back then there was more diversity in the designs. Love this because that blue under the black is gorgeous.

I'm happy Mana said this, because I've always felt like a bit of an odd Moitié lover since I'm not really lolita and the EGA fashion tends to be more masculine. I've gravitated towards pieces like these both in Moitié and other fashion. It really is more in line with Elegant Goth fashion. And Moitié has had these pieces over the years, including some of the items Mana wears for performing in Moi dix Mois. But they never really fit into EGA or EGL catagories.

Now the question is, will the new Moitié come up with contemporary EGM items?

Thank you so much for your elaborated response ! The first image you provided has actually been one of my favorite pictures of Mana for a long time. I always thought it was part of EGA but you're right that it wasn't.. exactly fitting. I used to dress as the EGM/EGA aesthetic in my everyday life and it's certainly the style of Moitié that I prefer.. If Mana starts investing into higher quality fabric I might buy a piece or two. I was never really into Lolita tbh

It would be up to the company that now owns Moitié. I would not expect it right away since they are pretty invested in the lolita market and probably don't have the money to do a lot more, but since Mana mentioned it in an interview, maybe he's hoping for more of that style in the future? It would expand their market a bit. I'd love to see them do more with elegant goths. There are a lot of people into that and some really fun events they could go to. All of their lines would sell there too. It's a bit more open than just catering to lolitas.
