OK, I'm writing a paper for english class that is comparing two things from different cultures. I chose to do Visual-Kei compared to mainstream American music, but I have to incorporate atleast 3 sources into my paper.

So does anyone know of any good websites that have good info on Visual-Kei that I could use in my paper?

Well my site has info on visual kei bands but not the philosophy behind it. I think I good idea would be to look into how Visual kei cam about in Japan. Its origins lie in Kabuku therter, in which men played the rolls of women. this ban of women in Kabuki lasted until 1940, so it is still imbedded in the culture today where as, in england women were eventually let into plays at an earlyer date. (plus we had the bible and stuff telling us that cross dressing is wrong and stuff, where as eastern culture has no relisiog texts that I know of that say that cross dressing is taboo)

You can try here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
I don't think it goes very much into detail, but it at least has some stuff on Visual Kei. It also has info about individual visual kei bands.

That EXACT(wording and everything) info is the only info I can find on sites. Which i don't want to use that because it compares VK to boy bands! Which is so beyond stupid. VK is not even remotely at all like boy bands. And saying that the fanbase is almost purely teenage girls is also stupid.

I appreciate the help though! Not yelling at you, just the stupid information.

This page seems to be mostly on J-rock, and I doubt it's much help, but here it is anyway:

Epinions

It seems to crap on visual kei, though...¬_¬

OK, the one from J-Rock Saga, and the one from Kurai's Translations are really good. The Epinions one is OK, better than the one referring to VK like boy bands. I guess that's all I really need since any other source can pretain to american music.

But if anybody else has anymore links, it would still be appreciated. Cause going over the minimum of what I need would probably be better.

I have my own opinions about Kurai's Translations website, but I'll keep those to myself. :)

Sadly, hard data on this movement is difficult if not impossible to find (especially any completely free of bias), but hey, I think it's a great endeavor; so good luck!
