Közi.

Because... aah, here we go. Because he tends to keep his style in tact with the times, even if he uses retro-elements as base. Of course, I'm not saying there's something wrong with Mana or old-fashioned things.

Mana is gothic. And gothic nowadays is a style which doesn't undergo changes or critics because it's one of those everlasting fashions, like jeans. Sadly, though, throughout all the years of his work, he seems to have taken all of the gothic/visual kei/jrock scene already. In a way, he is drained. He still has some new and original ideas but he can't escape from having them remind of Malice Mizer or any other older works of his. He has his reasons as well, but it's getting more and more noticable today. He's coming a full circle. But this is also very signifficent to how talented he is. Getting everything from a style is a very delicate thing to accomplish and it means you really know what you're doing and know your ground well. I hope you get my point because I can't explain it very well.

Why Közi. Because he still has new things to make. If it wasn't for Eve of Destiny kind of halting his development, he would have a lot of surprises and new things to show. He has a future. His solo career, I mean. I like what he's doing with Haruhiko Ash but I think in his artistic personality he has more potential. I see he may feel a bit uneasy being independent, knowing he lacks sense of leadership, but I think he can still do new and original things on his own, with his own style and view. Because it's truly unique and he is the only one I've seen it in.

Keiyoru,

That was pretty cool.

I do agree that Mana is running out of ideas, but I meant to ask "who is a better composer/musician?" I, personally, think Mana is a better guitarist, but Közi, in my opinion, composes much more solid sounding music. However, their golden years were definately when they were in Malice Mizer, but I still love Moi dix Mois, Eve of Destiny, and Közi's solo work. But, hey, that's just me.

When did this happen?

Feet are disgustingly dirty, so, yes, it is a bad thing, and it's always been a bad thing. ;)

But, seriously, all human feet are quite nasty... But, feet aren't as nasty as mouths. YUCK! ;)

I voted Kozi... But that was before you said who is a better musician. Overall I like Kozi's style (looks, clothes). His music is lacking something so far, but I think he will grow and grow (if he chooses to do so). I love Moi dix Mois' sound, and more than Kozi's, but Kozi has the potential to be better (or at least creat something that is more up my alley), imo.

Allow me to disagree. I think it's clear to see from his new work that EOD has furthered his development. His sound is more up to date and more comparable to European standards. Illuminati may be a fun song but it's light years behind anything of the time in electronica. Moving out of Japan alone is a personal development which I think also shows. For how much I think Japanese music is doing just fine where it is, you can't help but wonder how isolated the musicians are and how closed their vision is. And of course there are so many more chances now for a broader audience to get a hold of his own music, which I do think is more interesting than what EOD are doing. Plus EOD hardly take up a month of his time per year if you put it all together.

I chose Kozi because I find him more fresh and interesting when it comes to music and more original when it comes to image. But Mana is very strong in his own way, just Kozi happens to be closer to what I like.

Sucking toes is sexy. rawr. ;]

Anyways. I wouldn't say they're both equally fabulous, though that's what I voted, since they both have their own faults. But despite I'm highly biased towards Mana's music, I like Kozi's originality as well. Some of his solo stuff really grates my nerves, though. I'm just not into the more crazy noisy songs.

And I kind of disagree with you about Mana having a fault by reminding people of MAlice Mizer or returning to what he sued to do. If anything, I personally think NOCTURNAL OPERA was the most fantastic album he's ever contributed to. Each and every song was incredibly solid, some were completely different yet still "Mana", and other, yes, were rather MM-ish... but that's because HE wrote most the songs for MM that defined them so much. It's just him, and I love him for it. There are a few MM songs I avoid like the plague, but I've yet to hear a M10M song that I dislike that much. Dix Infernal was defiately way too similar to itself, but that COMPLETELY disappeared with NO. I think Mana is still along the same vein as always, yes, but I also think he's finally discovering how to perfect that train of thought.

As much as I love Kozi...as an artist, a persona, and in terms of style, Mana wins by several miles for me. But I can't judge composition. In that respect, I appreciate both of their works equally can can't say one is better than the other. In their MM era, they both wrote their own share of awesome songs. And now, post-MM it's too different to compare their styles. So I say equal love, in respect to the "better" musician.

Let's keep this topic out of fetish territory, please. ::erm::

But I voted they're both equally awesome, because I'm a puss.

i have always been slightly more a fan of kozi's than mana's...i love mana, but kozi was always just a personal favorite...the music he writes, his style of playing...and he's sillier than the average bear....

MANA!!! Sorry Kozi, I really love you and all, but Mana wins hands down for me. ^_^ He's just such a genius, and he is so funny and cute. I love all of his music. ^__^

Hmm...music wise?
I suppose Kozi has more variety...but Mana seems to be getting
better with that from his release of Nocturnal Opera.

At any rate, I vote Kozi. His music makes me feel good inside. :)

for me, i'll stick w/ MANA cuz his music style is more of my type.
Guiter + classical intruments = dope for serpent!!! ::dix::

For Kozi, i like him just as well, but his works from MM has been either hit or miss for me. Seriously though, he has a lot of potential and my atitude on his works is changing. I just wish that EOD can bring Kozi's musical career into a new height. :)

That's a difficult one to answer because what they do is so different and they are both only starting out on their respective solo careers, so who can say where they will eventually end up?

At first glance Mana seems more predictable than Közi, not least because we know a lot more about where he is coming from and what drives him, but I think Nocturnal Opera surprised a lot of people (including me) and now all bets are off again. I don't think Mana has reached his full potential yet and I disagree with Keiyoru that he is basically rehashing MM. The concept of M10M is clearly very different to MM and if some of M10M's music sounds a tad MM-esque then that's hardly surprising since it was written by the same person who wrote all that stuff for MM.

I like Közi's solo work because it is very unusual sounding and because I love electronic music but it somehow fails to sweep me off my feet and I'm not too hot on his vocals either. I find Katharsis quite repetitive and I can't listen to it too often because it has a funny tendency to grate on my nerves and leave me bored at the same time but then this is a debut album. Who knows what Közi will come up with in the future?

Anyway, since I think it is too early to vote objectively I can only go by taste and there I have to chose Mana. I can't quite believe that I'm actually choosing guitar driven goth metal over electronics but I love almost everything Mana has written for M10M and I haven't been so excited about a band for a very long time. I can't say the same thing about Közi, at least not right now.

I voted Kozi. I personally enjoy Kozi's musical works on at least the same level as Manas, some songs more than others.

I prefer Kozi's style as well...
