FILTH by DIr EN Grey, reading through transations, me and my friend saw some really disgusting and funny gender related metaphors. I don't think everyone would agree, but if you look through, that's what it means.
all the boys have rotten strawberries ><
Hahaha, Kyo is one lyricist I make an effort to learn the words of. Because he's absolutely demented, and I like that in a man. ;]

I'm just saying that it's stupid to listen to something you don't understand. You have an attitude problem. Calm down.
The person who has an attitude problem and should calm down is you - not just in this thread but in others as well. You seem to automatically assume that someone who listens to Japanese music but isn't fluent in Japanese doesn't care whether or not they understand song lyrics. That is assuming rather a lot. Of course lyrics are important and if non-Japanese speaking J-Rock fans were as ignorant (or 'stupid') as you suggest then websites like -scape- that cater for these non-Japanese speaking fans wouldn't offer lyric translations. And before you assume that I'm writing this because I too am ignorant or 'stupid' - I am learning Japanese.

I love lyrics and they are important. But even as Gackt has said, they are not essential to enjoy the song on any level. Not to mention the voice could be considered just as much an instrument as a guitar. So it is not all as important to people as it may be for you. if they were dying to know exactly what was being said, they could seek out translations or, yes, learn the language. But you have to accept the fact that a lot of people may very well get very much out of the music regardless if they understand exactly what is being said.

That was a good point, but I still cannot imagine how someone can listen to something that goes over their head. Maybe it's just me.

I appologize (again). If you haven't noticed, I have been going around trying to change my little attitude problem. I am trying to better myself. Doesn't that not count for SOMETHING?

That's because you don't care about music for music's sake? Granted a song is called a song because it has lyrics (something is being sang in it) but I completely disagree in that being its focal point. I'm sorry but the music itself is the core and like LejuN said the vocals are but another instrument that happens to be in a 'language' more people will understand than say, a guitar which will speak to a select few. Mana must be going way over your head in this respect I guess =\

No. I do believe that music is a language. A song CAN show emotion, BUT I think that if lyrics are in a song, then they should have meaning, no? Vocals and drums are like the glue of a band; they are very important. I just think that you should try to understand the lyrics of a song so that you can get closer to understanding the song as a whole. Forgive me for misleading you.

Any part of a song, be it the lyrics or the bass line, is important in comprehending it fully. You seem to like songs in which lyrics are of more importance and that's of course your choice. But a lot of people prefer a song that will speak for itself. Just like when I first heard Le Ciel there was absolutely no need to look up the lyrics to know what it was all about. When it comes to MM in general I feel like Gackt's lyrics especially are just redundant if not misleading.

So saying that not knowing the lyrics means the song is going over your head is entirely untrue and it seems like you, understanding the lyrics, are missing out on a lot we don't seem to be. I absolutely adore the fact that I can listen to Klaha's voice as an instrument and not have the lyrics distract me. Even though his lyrics are beautiful and I always enjoy reading them. And I'm sorry but as others said I listen to music from many parts of the world and I don't see how I need to know all those languages to appreciate it. It would have been nice to, yes, but just think of what I'd be closing myself to if I gave up on them just on account of that.

i have to say as a musican and lyracist, more often than not, i find vocals to be just part of the track which helps move everything along.
my opinion counts for nothing really, but its there anyway.

I suppose so, but I still think you should at least look up translations, no?

Astrology isn't retarded, I wasn't talking about "life revolving aroung the stars" I was more leaning towards the attitudes of people. I usually find geminis annoying.

<--- Official pisces person

How about the emotional, passionate (and mininovel-writing :P ) pisces who are supposed to see the world through pink-tinted shades?

And since Mana's sign is pisces, that explains a lot of things too ^_^
