Malice Mizer - Mayonaka ni kawashita yakusoku [Gardenia Tour Live]

I'm in love with the updated rock sound especially the guitars and drums. I wish they had released a studio version of this in that last album that never came out.

the quality of this recording is so bad though >_<

Cab Calloway - Minnie the Moocher

This would have been a really fun group to play with! This song also made one of the most terrifying cartoons ever staring Betty Boop and Bimbo (but Bimbo lived in a perpetual nightmare as it was, also staring in the animated short Swing You Sinners. This is quite possibly the most terrifying cartoon I've ever seen)

Wasn't there also a short about a town full of balloon people and a monster that was a giant safety pin that lived in the nearby forest and kept trying to pop the townspeople?

And people complain about current movies being bad influences on the children ::meev::

I always keep meaning to visit this thread more often!

Femme Fatale - Crimson Nail

This track sounded kind of typical in the preview and then around the 2:20 mark it gets downright disturbing.

I've been listening to a lot of The Horrors' new record Luminous, Rob Zombie, and Hole's Live Through This. I feel like I could have done with listening to the latter when I was growing up and I'm kinda pissed I only got around to listening to Hole last year.

I'm really in love with Tetsu ::squeeeee::

Forever young (album) - ZIGZO

In special Shōnen no ashiato and Forever Young ::weepy::

Edit: Shōnen no ashiato sounds like Hide's pink spider xD <3

Been obsessed with some modern VK bands. They're so high energy and unique.

Can't lie- the taste had to develop but now that I can listen to the music properly it's really appealing to me.

This band has some REALLY COOL songs

For My Pain - Queen Misery

This is a nice band from Finland with the keyboardist from Nightwish as a member. They have some good tracks :) I like this one and their song, "Too Sad to Live" the most.

Their tracks are very Oh My Gawth, but they're really well done d(^___^)

Yes, and they're surprisingly soft too!

"Too sad to live" may be some kind of message, when you know Finland has a very high suicide rate...

This is... not bad actually. It's a bit screamier than what I like to listen to, but it's definitely better than most of the modern VK I've heard. I don't like the "anime" sound a lot of the newer bands seem to have.

Yeah, no, modern VK is predominantly horrible and I don't know why the particular sound is so popular. But I do a lot of digging for decent bands and come across some cool stuff. The screamo type music really does grow on you after a while.. this song is really cool, and super high energy. I'll post a few more links sometime to some similarly good stuff.

The only newer band that I've really gotten into is Matenrou Opera because their sound is a lot more in the symphonic metal territory than in the realm of VK. Their vocalist's voice is a tad too high pitch for my tastes (especially the vibrato) but I like how they use choirs :) I especially like their song "Innovational Symphonia".

Now listening to:
Maschera - Memories

I bought compilation album called "The End of the Century Rockers" and have been really enjoying it. I hadn't heard a lot of old classic bands like Maschera and PIERROT, but I like them on this CD. I got it for Blue (their track 'Moon Stone' is the highlight of the CD) but some of these other bands are quite good as well!

No, but I should totally play it for her too ::meev::
She's being the Disney "Sorcerer's Apprentice" for Halloween instead of Mr. Peanut like I wanted ::hora::

That guy sounds a lot like Paul McCartney, or is it just me?

If the Beatles made songs like this, maybe I'd listen to them XD
Not really seeing the McCartney resemblance, but the lack of British accent might be the dealbreaker right off the bat XD

Please don't make me nostalgic on the 7th anniversary of the day I saw them live in Paris.

I was trying hard not to think about it, especially with K gone now...

Batman Returns OST - The Children's Hour

Out of all the CDs I own, I think this is my absolute favorite. This score is just brilliant! The Rise and Fall from Grace suite, Selina Transforms and The Birth of a Penguin are just so good~
