toshiro: No, I agree to a point. I just feel like their "diversity" turned from an equal mix of rock and programmed songs to mostly-heavily-programmed-songs-and-sometimes-we'll-dust-off-the-ol'-six-string-if-we-have-to. It's the weakness of Voyage; and it's the weakness of a lot of the Kozi songs in my eyes (a lot of this is boiling down to opinion, but I like to hear other people's and I like expressing my reasons too :)). Bara no Seidou I'll give a hypocritical exception to because as a concept album it holds up fantastically, and it seemed like they were very unabashed about the lack of real instruments, so that didn't bother me too much. I was glad they got back to their guitar-slingin' roots with their last couple of singles, though. I pick and choose what about MM I like, because I've learned that denial tends to make everything better. ^____^

I'm not trying to change anyone's views here, I'm just letting you know mine, but I don't honestly think Mana and Kozi made Malice Mizer to be a "guitar-slingin'" band at all. Sure, memoire made use of guitars, but I feel that none of Malice Mizer's songs focused on the normal band setup, but focused more on the emotions of the voice and the instruments that were suited to go along with those emotions. Same with Voyage, except the emotions conveyed in Voyage didn't require guitars as much, and required the use of more prissy, romantic instruments (for most songs on that album).

True, songs like Shiroi, Bel Air and Tsuioku no Kakera were golden, but imagine Malice Mizer without most of Kozi's work; no ILLU, no Ju te veux, none of the more unusual work. One of the reasons I love Malice Mizer as much as I do is because their music is unusual. If they stuck to the normal band setup I can assure I wouldn't like them anywhere near as much as I do now

WHAT NO ILLUMINATIIIII I´D DIE......ok joining in on the topic ahem

Malice Mizer spoke to me because it was a very diverce, original band that didn´t stick just to one type of music, they experimented with so many things and had such amasing costumes for almost each song I mean they don´t just keep one Image from time to time they constantly changed it and on the guiters :P they where perfect for me u see because they didn´t want to be like m10m is now so they didn´t need to add so many guiter work of course I love songs like Beast of Blood and Gensou Rakuen but I also love Illuminati and Ju te Veux, see? the divercity is wonderful and the guiters xD fitted perfectly in the songs they where needed and that is why Malice Mizer is my favorite band of all times and still is :D  ::dix::

phew got a little carried away heh, well that´s it for me ;) ::dix::

toshiro: Exactly, which is why I'm no huge fan of Voyage. It all boils down to what you prefer hearing and seeing, I guess. I suppose my logic is that they ARE good guitarists and arrangers, I just would have liked to see a lot more guitar work. I mean, it's a little late to go back and change something like that, but I don't find songs where no one has an instrument and they fill the performance with awkward dancing entertaining. It makes the Bara ni idorareta DVD skippable in many parts for me. Those sort of programmed songs don't give the band a lot to do on stage, and that, to me, just isn't as interesting.
But I do see where you're coming from.

I love his work in Malice Mizer even if i consider he was more mana's puppet than anything else at this time.
His solo work is what he wants or wanted to do so it's ok ,but i am not a very big fan,it's nice to listen but not marvelous^^

I voted from Klaha’s solo work. Sure, he may not have an amazing voice, and he may not be a great composer, but there is a beauty in his work I rarely find in other artists. If you look at the lyrics for Setsubou (imo his greatest work) maybe you’ll what I’m talking about . . .

(my brain is mush at the moment, so I can’t articulate my thoughts . . . especially since this will get skipped over anyway)

Both choices have there ups and downs, but overall I vote Malice Mizer... Malice Mizer just seemed have more diversity in terms of music. Malice Mizer's music seems to have more work/organization put into it.

I don't really think there is a comparison. He was a different person in Malice Mizer (at least his stage persona) and he is different now as a solo artist.

GAH, i really like Klaha's Nostal Lab BUT at the end of the day i could never say that his vocals impressed me more than his Malice Mizer era. I mean just listen to 2 songs off Nostal Lab (Marchen and Stay in the rain) and compare them with two MM songs (Mayonaka and Shiroi) and you can see that the notes MM Klaha hits is far superior to that of solo Klaha

But then again to be tottally fair i like that typoe of msic more and it is very harsh on Klaha to compare the two as they are comnpletely different.
