is there any diffence in なければなりません and なくちゃいけません? I've mainly worked with Genki and they use なくちゃいけません, but then I got Minna no Nihongo when I was in Tokyo and they use なければなりません, sort of confused what the differences is, if there are any.

There's not really a difference that I can see, just personal preference. I usually use なければいけません (なきゃいけない) but there are other ways to say it. しないといけません and しないとだめです are also used, but in the end, they all essentially mean "You have to do this" (Or literally, you can't not do this)

Also, なくちゃいけません is a colloquial version of なくてはいけません, so there's that too

I've been totally neglecting Japanese study this year, probably not going to end up taking the N3 in December at this rate ::kisaki::
I did get that 'Kakitori-kun' game incidentally, but I got frustrated with it because it's really, really picky about exactly where the lines cross the axes I think. Like, my handwriting's not that good in English, let alone Japanese ::meev:: I want to learn the right stroke order and stuff, but when it knocks me down to 0 for the axis crossing being 1mm off, I just go ::hora:: XD

I just graduated with my minor in Japanese ::squee:: for writing I pretty much lived on this site http://kanji.sljfaq.org/ my last two semesters focused almost exclusively on reading/writing. I really like that site because they have the multi radical lookup http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi- ... dic.cgi?1R

so you don't have to know THE radical, just any part of it. It's really helpful for identifying the more difficult kanji where you're not sure about the stroke order. Our teacher would give us physical copies of articles, so we couldn't just copy and paste into a reader.

I'm having a hard time remembering all the uses....but here's one. I hope it's good Japanese.....

今日のミィちゃんは笑いたいほど可愛くてたまらない!!
Today Michan's so cute it makes me want to laugh!!

思うほど悪くはないよ
It's not as bad as you think!

I always learned that it's verb + hodo, and that it can be translated as 'to the extent that". aka - It is not bad to the extent that you think, Today's michan is cute to the extent that I want to laugh.

There is also a special use - verb+ba verb + hodo that means "the more (the subject) does verb, the more"

ナルトを見れば見るほどバカになる

The more you watch Naruto, the stupider you become.

Hope that was kinda clear....I'm no eigo kyoushi!

我不喜欢你。你不是一个好人。

我叫何迪兰。我很漂亮。我想嫁给一个白马王子。我觉得学日文没有意思。

thank you faith!
The problem is the textbook doesn't even mention verbs, it gives 1 example and just says: hodo is almost the same as kurai -.- But I get it more now, ありがとう~
