Never sent non-email fan mail.

I've drawn one fanart of Kozi, and want to do some of Mana and various others eventually -- unfortunately, fanart (no matter how fun and easy it is) is low on my list of artisitc priorities... But even if I ever happened to cross paths with any of them and had the chance to give therm the art, I'd be too shy. Maybe I'd sneak up to them and give them card with my website on it, but I can't see myself confronting tem and actually -handing- them any art.

i r loser.

Well when the person off of ebay did that thing for the Schwarz Stein Artificial hallucination first press and getting an autograph, you would also send a little gift and a letter.

So I drew Kaya and Hora something and sent them a letter. Pretty much the letter for both wished them luck for the future and all that.
So yeah that's my story :3

I give letters once in a while, albeit rarely. I give them to the artist or staff in person, not by mail. Letters at events are common because even when we meet the artists, we don't have enough time for a real conversation with them. So if there's something you really want to communicate, you need to put it in a letter that they can read later. My Japanese is quite poor and I find it troublesome and embarrassing to write in it, so although all my (Japanese) friends always have letters to give at every instore event and concert, I usually just don't bother. But sometimes I do it. ^^

One of the letters I gave to Kamijo contained a pencil illustration. This digital version isn't a scan, it's a photo from a digicam so it's really blurry, but that's all I have now...

I gave it during the time when Lareine was only just beginning to resume activities and they hadn't gotten the fan club up and running yet so there was no proper procedure for sending fan art for possible publication in the FC pamphlet. Actually that wasn't on my mind at all, I just wanted to give the drawing to Kamijo because I'd worked really hard on it and thought the lines of the drawing expressed my admiration for Lareine better than my poor Japanese language skills ever could. So I put it in an envelope and handed it to a staffer at an instore event.

Half a year later after much worrying about whether my drawing had been liked, disliked, or totally forgotten, I received my first Lareine FC pamphlet. There was my illustration on the "art gallery" page... It didn't have such details as my FC membership number printed next to it because of course I hadn't included the necessary submission information or in fact submitted it for publication at all, it was just a gift to Kamijo personally. But it was in the pamphlet anyway! I'd really thought Kamijo must have opened the envelope, looked at it, put it back, and just put it in a box somewhere and forgotten it. What a wonderful prince he is... *_*

this probably sounds selfish, but i think it must be pretty hard giving something you did a lot of work away, knowing that you might not see it again. if i'd do something like that, i'll probably at least take a picture of it so that i could see it again. right now i'm busy with a painting that includes mana, but i don't think i'll ever give the original to him even if i had the chance.

inertia - that's a beautiful drawing :)

It feels so good to be among so many artists!

Inertia, that drawing is spectacular. Do you have the pamphlet to scan in, by any chance? :)

Hey, that's a really nice thing you did! I think I might do that in the future- maybe not the letter but a fanart at least^_^;; I wouldn't have any problem giving my artwork away, LOL, 'cause I do all my colouring digitally :P

Wow, thank you for so many nice comments. ^^

Well, I wasn't overjoyed about giving away my drawing. I think it's the best one I've ever done and I was so sad on the way to the event thinking that I'd never see it again. But what bothered me wasn't that I wouldn't have it anymore -- I don't own ANY of my best pieces, I give them all away -- it was that I was afraid I might be giving it to someone who wouldn't value it and would just stuff it away never to be seen again by anyone. So it really meant a lot to me to see it in the pages of "Fleur".

You can email M10M via Midi:Nette:

http://www.midi-nette.com/mdm/message.html

Don't expect a response though. Mana doesn't reply to fanmail, although he claims that he personally reads everything he receives.

You can also email Mana from here:

http://www.midi-nette.com/mana/sympathy.html

If you wanted to send snail mail to M10M in general (or if you want, you can specify who it's for by just writing their name above or below the address) the address is at the same link Geisha gave:

〒106-8691 麻布郵便局留「モワ ディス モワ」係

NOTE: You don't have to translate this address into English. Copy paste it on a white file and print it out and then stick it on an envelope and clearly write JAPAN under it. Your letter will arrive just fine. If your browser doesn't support Japanese then let me know and I'll make a jpg file for you to print out.
