I guess it comes from the German use of "unter die Dusche gehen" - "going under the shower".
Which is meant as staying under the thing where the water comes out. =)
haven't you people heard of a 'rain shower'? ::meev::

As in like.. rain outside?

No, rain in your house when the clouds suddenly evaporate inside like reverse osmosis or something. :| It's a rampant problem in 3rd world countries.

Huh? How do you let the conditioner sit in your hair if you're in the shower brushing your teeth? Won't the water wash away the conditioneR?
Multitasking.
That's the key.
::kisaki::

(And I go off now to shower and wash my hair in the shower and then brush my teeth at the sink XD)

Yeah but it's not possible to be showering and brushing your teeth at the same time if you want conditioner to stay in your hair.

No it is, obviously if I do it, it's possible. You step out from under the water, and it still saves time because even if I don't brush my teeth in the shower, I still take the same ammount of time letting conditioner sit in my hair. (which is still showering, people don't stand under the showerhead constantly while showering, its still considered showing if you step out from under the water....)* brushing my teeth during that time is time saving because I'm not taking all that time to condition, and then getting out of the shower and taking all that time to brush. I do it at the same time. Anyways, it doesn't really matter because I never said I do it to save time anyways, I said I do it because I hate how it feels otherwise.

*By step out from under the water I don't mean I'm getting out of the shower, I mean standing in the shower but not under the showerhead, which is why it saves time, and is still considered showing if you're standing in the shower and after you're done, you're going to step back under the water, and rinse your mouth and the conditioner out of your hair.

I would like a room in my house where that happens. It sounds amazing.

...I'm pretty positive she was kidding xD Anyways, I think in the first place she was talking about rain showerheads where the showerhead faces directly down onto you. Those are so nice, I want one.

I start to feel kinda dumb and if people were starting to pick at my language at least now 'XD
But if no one ever tells me about the mistakes I make I won't learn to correct them, so go on guys *laughs*

And Kyu, I have only heard of a rain shower in case of those awesome hotel bungalow things on Maledives for example where your shower is located outside the house and has one of those huge "rain" showerheads.
So if you mean something else please elaborate that to me.
Except you meant the clouds coming into houses 'XD Thennn I see it as some kind of joke ::meev::

I hope you know that my comment had nothing to do with your language. Even an English person could have made that mistake.

I was just teasing.:)

We're not picking on you, hon, I was trying to prove that what you said was a correct usage of the word and that I had also heard and seen it used like that before.

To elaborate for the silly people:

+Yes, I was kidding in my post to garnet because I thought the post made was silly. XD

+Rain showers are when it isn't exactly raining lightly outside but it isn't heavy either. In that case it is called a shower. Usually there's no serious thunder, if any, during a rain shower. There's your meteorological lesson for the day. ::kisaki:: (and kudos to me for spelling 'meteorological' correctly in the first go! x.x)

+Saying that you're 'going under the shower' when you 'take a shower' is still a correct usage of the words, as I have heard them used even by native english speakers in this way. In fact, saying you're going 'under the shower' makes more sense to me than saying you're going 'in the shower'- but really, when you look at the two phrases, they mean the same thing but just use different prepositions. The name for our bathroom 'shower' was taken from the word we use to describe when it rains outside, since bathroom showers are essentially like 'a portable rain shower in your house', ect. And I think that covers our english lesson for the day, too. ::meev::

Kinda off topic...but it deals with dental hygiene at least! xD

After using mouthwash...are you supposed to rinse with water? >_> Because I do it, and now I'm told I shouldn't because it would counteract the effects of the lysterine and all that mouthburning would have been for naught.

It's just that I really hate the taste and filmy feeling it leaves...so I automatically gargle with some water afterwards.

^ Yeah, I was told not to rinse with water afterwards as it washes away the mouthwash that's on your teeth doing good stuff.
