If you saved the .swf file, and hosted it on another (allowed) site, would the link be removed?

That would depend on whether the video file in question is available for purchase on DVD or not.

But if the video is indeed out of print, then it's OK to do this. We don't care if the video is originally from Youtube or not; we just ban the Youtube site itself because it automatically links you to so much in-print material.

Thanks, because they are a couple of interviews that people should know about. So when I have the time I'll put it on the website. Is that okay?

Now all those 'illegal youtube links -> oh noes -> lock!' threads might stop appearing.

Plus, there is media gold on Youtube- you just have to find it.
