I got warned by my boss this afternoon to be careful of walking under the bridge since apparently some kids (she described them as anarchist terrorists lol) pelted her with marshmallows while walking! They set off once she took out her phone because they thought she was gonna call the cops so I never actually saw them. Kinda disappointing since I was hoping to make a show out of it by catching a marshmallow in my mouth. Happy April Fools'?

Logged in just to say that Yes. There is no other logical reaction to this situation.
Unless they did something weird with the marshmallows first...

The train in Paris was stopped a while back because kids were throwing rocks from bridges, not marshmallows.
And today apparently the metro was stopped because some guy poo'd all over the tracks.
Will not miss Itaparis XD

I just wretched over the image of poo guy poo-pooing all over the train tracks::blowup::

and speaking of Itaparis, omigod, the news about the Notre Dame fire is so devastating. :'( Glad the structure isn't completely destroyed and that they're gonna restore the Cathedral, but the damage seems massive and gutting.

I'm no longer any sort of religious but visiting the Cathedral was one of the most profoundly impactful experiences I had when I was visiting Europe in 2017. Walking around inside the Church was an emotional experience for me since I was raised Catholic, and it just really reminded me of my family. I was going through a lot personally as well which really added to it. Plus the sense of history and pride built into the Notre Dame was overwhelming to walk through.

Also I was able to attend the 99th Armistice Day service at the Cathedral, which was a really cool experience, especially since I just came up on it by accident. Really glad I was able to do that...

Macron says they'll have it rebuilt in 5 years. Macron's a numbnut XD

Notre Dame, for the majority of French, is pretty devoid of religious meaning tbh.
More people go there to get drunk on the weekend, than those who go there for mass (if anyone still goes there for mass).
It's kind of outgrown its original purpose and become a symbol of French culture, history, art, literature...
So we're kind of in shock. But we also know it'll get rebuilt as close to the original as possible. It helps I guess.

At this point everyone's pretty sure it was an accident (thank goodness).
The Fire Department's special investigation unit is looking into the causes.

Hm. Mine has the VHS, CD and a small booklet.
If there's supposed to be something else in it, I've been scammed. Or maybe there's multiple different versions of it?

I've bought stuff from Mercari via Celga before, at least.

Not sure where you're from, but you could import a bluray player from a country that doesn't use region codes. I'm in the understanding that region coding is illegal in Sweden, so their players have always played anything. However, they use different plugs and watts (same as most PAL I suppose?) if you're from the US/UK, so you might have to pull out those soldering irons and chickens.
Really? I can't find anything online about Sweden being immune to region-locking... at least not in English.
I ended up getting an Oppo UDP-203, which you can make region-free just by plugging a little after-market circuit board into a header on the motherboard. Easy enough and doesn't require any tools more sophisticated than a screwdriver, so I was satisfied.

Back (mostly... slightly) on topic, I'm kinda surprised how long BluRay has lasted, I honestly thought for a while it was just another HD DVD debaucle (remember those?), but I'm guessing it's here to stay as far as tangible media goes.
Well you know, there's that new 4K blu-ray format now, not that anyone releases anything worthwhile on there.
Is it just me or are half the BD and UHD releases out there terrible "director's cut" versions that restore cuts that were made for good reasons? ::ash::

So when does Mana release MmM BluRay player to appease all the disappointed fans?
NEVER ::mana:: But wait in fear for the Moitie custom CD32, in stores this fall!
