Completely random: Hirasawa's brother now has a Youtube channel so we can see what he looks like XD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4WBCfDKAic
I can see the resemblance ::meev::
He was the videographer on some of the early P-MODEL videos, and did the sculptures for "Karkador", which he apparently still has and decorated his cafe with XD

Have been listening to some of his stuff again, like Big Brother, Fu Ru Heh-heh, some Paprika stuff and random tracks. So diverse, so weird and still so good.
Especially Fu RU ::meev::

Finally got around to watching the new DVD tonight, and: well, it's another video of Hirasawa and that Ichigo guy standing still and playing their guiters XD Very similar to the "Parallel Kozak" DVD. Hirasawa is still using his mainstay "special instruments", the laser harp and the Tesla coil. The verdict - only pick this one up if there's a specific performance you want to hear - like the bonus track of "Snowblind"
And if anyone wants my opinion, the "Live Vistoron" rendition of "Fu-Ru-Heh-Heh-Heh" is still the best of them all XD

In other recent releases, Universal put out a DVD reissue of "BITMAP":
https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B01N1T53RC
Hirasawa didn't mention it on his site so I didn't know about it till I stumbled on it via Amazon. Lots of extremely rare footage on here including early 80s videos and a live performance by Shun (!)
It seems like a fair amount of Hirasawa's back catalog is still owned by the major labels, but I've never really been clear on the details.

Hirasawa is apparently planning some sort of live series (places and times subject to change) in a couple weeks:
The 9th Mandala
To celebrate 90000 Twitter followers ::meev:: I don't know why he caaaares so much, but he seems to do a fair amount of Twitter hyping on his page.
Check out the new photo on there though ::squee::

Hirasawa contributed some music to some computer game:

It sounds like it's just an old track from his major-label days, but no one seems to know exactly which.

Get Hyped: another download pack announced, "The 6th Formant":
http://susumuhirasawa.com/information/archives/795

Containing:
Haldyn Hotel - PHONON2555 version with double vocals and new guitar solo
Coyote - new recording and arrangement (!!)
shi no nai otoko - PHONON2550 version, edited, with new guitar solo
kaji o tore - half new recording (whatever that means) with new guitar solo and chorus vocals
denkou-yoku - half new recording, edited, new guitar solo
fuigo-fuki no otoko (BGM: Antimonesia)

Available on 12/21. The "Coyote" new version is the big news here, I don't know when the last time he played that classic was.

The live tracks from the previous post are available internationally now but I'm having trouble downloading it, the connection always seems to cut out ::hora::

Toshifumi Nakai, Hirasawa's graphic designer, is releasing a CD on TESLAKITE:
http://susumuhirasawa.com/information/archives/850
Apparently this Nakai has been doing graphics for The Man since 1993, but it's not clear exactly what for. He doesn't show up in the album credits I checked.

Oh man, oh man, new KAKU P-MODEL album announced ::squee::
Called "KAI=KAI", same as the live series:
http://www.susumuhirasawa.com/special-contents/release/kai-kai_cd/
I listened to about 30 seconds of the samples just to "peek in" (more is available) and I can tell already this is going to be another encounter with genius.
Preorder's not available on the international shop yet, but if you order direct from Teslakite, you get a bonus 3-track karaoke CD. ::cred::
