The Kalmia song Mary has been floating around since 2 years back as far as I know but I've never got a chance to hear it, does anyone have the file here?

Oh, sorry. :)

It isnt my photo but I have saved and uploaded it.

here.

I know it is a little silly, but he is being so kind to fans, and if we show some support, if we show we would buy it, maybe he could be more confident or change his mind about a CD.

I tried contacting him about a year ago about the same issue. I don't think this would work considering that the "fans" of Velvet Eden are already extremely unsupportive (The DVD release of Sad Mask sold around 5 copies) and that that his fanbase was composed of maximum 2 dozen people about 3 years ago. People only care now about Kalm cause it's "rare" and that Dada likes it. If you go on last.fm you clearly see he has less than 3 listeners per week and a maximum of 10 per week in over a year. It would be extremely unprofitable for him to release an album. It's almost encouraging for him to fail.

Thats a thing we cant say.
I've been a KALM fan for about 5 or 6 years, and I've met a lot of people who really likes his works.
And not only on the internets.

Plus, its common in Japan to release CDs in little quantity. The regular indie band press is 100~300 copies, and they sell it. Bands with 4 or 5 regular fans.
KALM is popular with VELVET EDEN fans, I'm pretty sure he could sell 200 copies around the world.

To be fair, that was a Russia-only release and I hear the quality wasn't any better than the VHS. How many copies were you expecting it to sell?

The DVD could ship to any country in the world (as far as I know) and it's currently sold on puresound as well. I think the quality is much better but I don't think we can really argue on this. I wasn't expecting a lot of copies either, but his "fans" are always talking about supporting him and being there for him when they clearly aren't. I am not saying I am a better fan than anyone, I am just saying that Velvet Eden was a flop financially and I don't see why Kalm would try to do the same as Dada when even 10 years ago with his tapes being sold 1000 yens (I have Obelisk so I can prove this) he never managed to get a solid fanbase (as far as I know) The only fans of Kalmia from Japan that I ever knew about or talked to was the Guitarist of Obelisk and a Velvet Eden fan that went to their first era lives. And she told me herself that hardly any people even VE fans knew about Kalmia in that time.

Oh, definitely. Did you see that Dada's charity art only sold for 5750Y? Just the paper he drew it on probably cost 1000Y - ouch.

There is a difference between Dada and Velvet Eden. Also nothing indicates that the drawing was actually drawn before Dada's return... Yes there is a date (2012/11/30) but it's obviously false since he posted the same drawing as a VE flyer on october 20th 2012. (You can clearly see the date on the page)

And what does it even mean that he can afford 1000 yens?
You can't base yourself on that "success" because the people interested in it aren't necessarily Velvet Eden fans, he's also known as a graphic artist for Dir En Grey and it should also increase it's value because of it's huge fanbase and it's also for charity so there's obviously going to be people who aren't interested in Velvet Eden that will be interested in the product. About Velvet Eden, you aren't including the fact that Witch on flames is now the third of it's initial price when the CD came out a year and a half ago. Anyways, even Dada himself talked on his facebook about the lack of fan support being the main reason that he didn't release anymore CDs. It's not like I was making all of this up. I source several material when you only concentrate on ONE single sale that he made. He could sell a million dollars with a drawing and that still couldn't prove that Velvet Eden wasn't a flop.

I was the last bidder ::gaku::
About Velvet Eden selling bad and Dada saying he can't afford making records, what about all the poor people in shinjuku? People playing the streets can afford making a record, selling it on the street, but VE can't? seems weird to me. And if dada was smart he'd sell the mp3 files, the demo cd's, flyers etc. I would be more than willing to pay for that. I acctually email Aci about buying a demo cd when he was still in the band and he said he'd have tot alk to dada first, I never got a reply after that. So if Dada doesn't have time, put the lousy dancers on licking stamps -.-'''

I don't know if I can really base myself from that, all have different contexts and nothing tells us they aren't failing either. I am not in the side of Dada in this either. I also think he should have sold the MP3 files and more merch online to increase his profits, and that's clearly what the fans wanted as well they kept commenting it on the Paraph video and on almost any other video he ever uploaded on youtube.

XD At least the dancers would have had a purpose.

A Kalmia CD would be interesting, but I'd like to bring up, when I got the Kalmia demotape way back when (mind you it was only the tracks recorded onto another tape), I was told by Kurai that it was the tape that Kalm sent to Dada as kind of an "audition" to get into Velvet Eden. No one really knew much about it. Faith was somehow able to find one random soul on the internet who knew anything about it. If you read the comments about it on this forum though, many people don't actually like Kalm's voice all that much (if he's actually the one singing on the tape). These are the people who like Dada's voice which, if we're being 100% honest, is not the most widely appreciated voice in the VK realm, even if I personally like it. In the grand scope of things, eclectic music just doesn't sell, and there is a reason mainstream music is, well, mainstream.

Most people who heard about the Sad Mask DVD already had the VHS and since there was really no difference, there wasn't much reason to buy the DVD. I have the VHS and I usually just watch the videos on YouTube if I'm going to watch them because if I have access to my Japanese DVD player (PS3), I have access to my VCR. When I was in high school and didn't have much of a concept on finances I could work my part time job and shell out some insane price for the "Voyage ~Sans Retour~" first press on Yahoo Auctions, but now I hesitate buying regular CDs new by my favorite bands because they're overly expensive.

I don't know, I honestly didn't like the songs on Witch on Flames enough to buy the CD and Dada has never been really good with marketing and selling his music. I'd like a Kalmia CD, but with the 300 people on Earth who even know it exists, I don't know if it will happen... (I'd also like to point out that, even though Schwarz Stein was popular by VK standards, Hora doesn't even sell out of his albums these days, so... Just because you like one doesn't always mean you'll like the other~)

Hahahahahaha!!! Those dancers just sitting on stage licking stamps would have been more interesting... Dada really missed out on a multi-tasking opportunity~

Well, NOTHING can get in my way of winning an auction I want to win ::gaku:: ...I found another shopping service with instant bidding who said they could bid for me even though it was a charity auction.
About the Sad Mask DVD, I have to agree it wasn't that easy to order, the form in the webstore wasn't even in English... the reason I bought it was because Dada could probably sell me anything...and because of the booklet ._. also I've only seen the videos on youtube since I still haven't opened my Sad Mask VHS ::meev:: But the case looks very cheap, so does La Fin single, it's not the regular Japanese standards with flawless cases and the booklet was a bit damaged ::weepy:: ...and not to mention the nut who packed the poster, folded, twice! ::hora::

I Don't think it's silly at all. I mean, Kalm already knows his fanbase is limited and small, lots of artists are like that, and even if you have 1 fan you should always try to offer the best from you as an artist. He has done an abroad interview, and he doesn't need to produce an Ayumi Hamasaki-like cd with 20 different types and extras and stuff.

Kalm has done amazing works for many artists and think there are many of us willing to pay for a release of his own, not a Colaboration. So I did my part, I wrote him in twitter, so let's see if he replies, he usually does. :D you can click to read the msg in proper size.
