Been playing Kid Icarus: Uprising since it was delivered yesterday. Sooo much fun. The default controls are absolutely absurd though. Luckily they let you change things pretty extensively as far as movement controls are concerned.
I hear you can play without the stylus, is it true?

Speaking of which, Lollipop Chainsaw is being released on 6/12. That's my birthday, so that's gotta be some divine sign. ::meev::

I didn't play Metal Gear Solid 4 when it came out and eventually just forgot about it until I saw it used at Game Stop recently. What a godamnned annoying game. Hour-long cutscenes? Are you effing kidding me with this? I mean, it's a decent story, I guess, but no game should have more cutscenes than actual gameplay. I feel like this is a very Japanese thing. I can't think of any US games that have made me sit for long periods with the controller untouched in my lap as my irritation grew exponentially, but I can think of several Japanese games that have.

I blame anime. Just because.

man i beat 4 in 3h30min skipping all the cutscenes doing no alert/no kill
maybe it was 6 hr 30 min i dunno

what a good game

I actually have that on my game wish list! ;)
I like detective games, but puzzles and the like aren't my strong points.

Beat Silent Hill Downpour~ Actually, it was a pretty awesome game, as long as you're not comparing it to Silent Hill the entire time and are enjoying it as it's own game. It's different than Silent Hill, but it's still really fun! The only complaint I have is that the side quests are completely pointless and don't actually give you anything good, except more backstory about how warped the Silent Hill residents are. (Some of them are really good though! I rather liked the ribbon quest and the ghost in the portrait!)

There are also a LOT of ghosts in this game and some things like going into mirrors and even into a movie screen and finding yourself in the movie. You can also go into Henry's apartment from Silent Hill 4 o_O That was cool~

OMFG, I ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS NOW.

Thanks for the input, though! Ghosts, huh. I didn't like dealing with them in SH4.

The ghosts aren't as annoying and they're all killable (at least the ones you can actually interact with, a lot of the ghosts are just sound effects like laughing/crying/drowning, that kind of thing.

Going into Henry's apartment was so bloody surreal, I was playing it with some friends and we started freaking out because the apartment looked really familiar (you have to climb through a window because of course the door is all chained up!!! ::squee:: ) Of course we recognized it instantly! I was hoping there was more to do there, but it just seems like it was an easter egg, but I can truly say my friends and I all shared a "moment" that day. ::weepy::

^ So you don't need to have those swords to pin them down? Oh, that sounds like such a relief!

Love it when easter eggs are awesome. I know I'm going to geek out so hard when I come across that, lol.

^ Yeah, most of the ghosts are just ambient, though there are some you have to kill and you have to figure out how, but it's never difficult.

My favorite references came from Silent Hill 3, though... When Heather goes to a toilet and is about to reach in and then says something like "Forget it... No one would be stupid enough to reach in there..." and then when she checks her mailbox and it reads "No letters, from a dead wife or otherwise..."

The new character (Murphy) and Henry would have made good friends... They both like to scrapbook... ::squee::

SH3 references are pretty sweet, hehe.
I read yesterday that you can collect artifacts from every SH game in Downpour and I thought that was awesome, even though they're useless. Alien figurine, lol.

Murphy sorta struck me as Henry's uglier brother or something. ::meev::
Scrapbooking men. How cute~

Man, I didn't even know about the artifacts, though I'm not surprised~ That is awesome! The makers spent a lot more time on trying to tie this one into the other Silent Hill games, that's for sure! I haven't looked much online, except for help with some of the side quests... They made some of them reliant on items that are impossible to find if you don't know where they already are.

Harry took notes, Henry and Murphy scrapbook... They're all very literary! These scrapbooks would make very effective conversation starters around the house due to the... ahem... content ::erm::

If I were a designer on Silent Hill and my parents ever played the games, I'm sure they'd call me every couple minutes saying "What on earth is wrong with you??" (Right now, they only call me once or twice a day to ask that) ::cop::

Picross on DS is sooo addictive. I have been playing it for a few days, with E.V.O on Snes I like the concept of E.V.O a lot. But training your creature can get a little boring.

Who played the Diablo 3 beta last weekend? Goodbye all productivity/future goals and dreams! ::weepy::

Actually, I really want to get The Darkness II once I finish my night classes... In the meantime, I'm on and off replaying Silent Hill 1 and calling it reference material for my CG class. After all, in order to understand 3D graphics, we should see as much reference material as possible and see what other people are doing ^_____^ I'm not playing video games, I'm *researching*!

Played it over the weekend myself.

I really like the Monk and Demon Hunter. I'm not sure what to level when it comes out, depends on what my friends are playing to try and keep some balance for Nightmare mode and shit like that.

Rented Yakuza: Dead Souls and have been playing it obsessively. Missions are sorta fun, but repetitive as hell. Pretty sure I'll complete it when I return it tomorrow.

I need to play the other Yakuza games, it's becoming my newest game series fav.
