For some reason I always want to spell that "aesexual", but according to spellcheck it's wrong. ::meev::

I edited my post twice but it's on the last page, so it might get missed.

Sorry if I'm coming across as ignorant with this but it's kind of a confusing topic.

I'm with Iska on this one. Either you aren't sexual or you are. Asexual is just that. Non-sexual.

Having problems with sex is another story. Much like being emotionally handicapped, I guess some are sexually handicapped.
And not in the "micro-penis" way.

edit: I've been kind of annoyed lately by all the kids jumping on the asexual bandwagon just because they are antisocial nerds who are terrified of touching another human being but they sit around writing reams of xxx GokuXGackt fanfic.

edit2: reading up on it again and there does seem to be conflicting views on what the term means. I still maintain that preferring to masturbate rather than have sex because you're socially awkward and it's scary doesn't make you asexual.
YES.

This is why labels are basically useless. Celibate people and people with no libido are both "asexual", but for different reasons and in different ways and the former might change over time. Even hetero-, bi-, and homosexual identifications can change for many different reasons. I had a friend who used to fight with me over girls and had blatant crushes on them, but now he won't even touch girls and is an avowed homosexual. I have to wonder how much that had to do with how he was molested in high school...

And I know of guys who once liked girls (and sometimes still seem to) but then decided they were 100% gay even though it seems like all they really want is a father figure and they're just sexualizing their cravings for that kind of relationship. And then there are guys I know who were gay from the start. And then there are straight guys who legitimately seem 100% straight.

These days I can appreciate a good-looking guy even though I never could when I was younger. It's like it was an acquired taste or something (and you girls are crazy for not appreciating man-butts BTW ::gaku::). But I've never met a guy that I could even remotely be romantic with (the relationship would quickly degenerate into video games and rough housing, because yes I am a total man-child), whereas I fall into romantic situations with girls all the time and often by accident. So where does that put me? "Straight" or "bi"?

And this is just my experience with my own and my guy friends' sexualities. Basically, the sooner we quit categorizing the better, because sexuality just doesn't work that way.

I honestly doubt one's sexual identity can be that floating, but then perhaps being now allowed not to be straight has changed things.

I guess the main thing is not lying to yourself, and not lying to whoever you get involved with.

I don't disagree but how much of this do you think is just a function of people growing up and getting to know themselves better as they get older?

I have a question. Say somebody is asexual. Does that mean they have a complete lack of interest in sex because they are simply apathetic toward it or is that they are not interested in sex because they find it gross? I thought it was the former, though recently a friend of mine told me that they are asexual and that they find the idea of sex gross. This friend of mine says she has always felt that way ever since she first learned what sex was when she was younger. Is it that way for many asexuals? Or is that more rare?

As we discussed above, the term isn't tied down to one solid definition and changes from case to case. An asexual person might find sex gross and might not.

for most of my life I was apathetic towards sex and to me, that's what asexual means ::bleh:: i wouldn't consider people who masturbate/have sex drives to be asexual....otherwise i'll have to find a new label for myself to separate myself from that ::meev::

now i don't think im really apathetic towards sex...it's like i'm envious of it. i hear all my friends talk about how much they like sex and how good orgasms are and see it portrayed as being awesome in movies and music videos and such...and it sounds stupid but i REALLY want that for myself. =/ a few years ago i tried seeing some doctors for it...i was also on birth control due to severe cramping, and i decided to stop taking that on my own to see if that was putting a damper on my libido, but it made no difference.

Yeah, because other asexual people's identities are up to you to decide, and words can't mean more than one thing. :|

If someone identifies as asexual, who the fuck cares if their definition isn't the same as yours? It's not your choice in the least as to whether or not they're asexual.

that was a joke dude. language is a conventional thing, and words carry meaning when a large enough group of people agree that it means the same thing.

Something about Versailles! I'm a little annoyed by the DVD extras for the various versions of the new album. I guess I'll put the tracklisting up and explain why it bothers me xD

Regular Edition: no DVD.

Limited Edition:

14. [DVD] Music Video of MASQUERADE
15. [DVD] Music Video of Vampire
16. [DVD] Music Video of DESTINY -The Lovers-
17. [DVD] Music Video of Philia

Deluxe Edition:

14. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] KAMIJO ver.
15. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] HIZAKI ver.
16. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] TERU Ver.
17. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] MASASHI Ver.
18. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] YUKI ver.
19. [DVD/-Personal Edit Music Video of MASQUERADE] KAMIJO Interview & Special Making

I know the purpose behind having album versions with different extra from one another is to make money. Still I wish that there were some kind of "ultimate edition" of the album that had everything all in one (the various music videos, the versions, etc). Oh well, there's always You Tube xD

What is a "personal edit music video"?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found out somewhere else.

Actually, I'm still kind of not understanding what it is even after Googling it xD Does personal edit mean that the music video focuses on that particular band member? Like, say the Kamijo personal edit focuses on Kamijo?

Yeah, apparently they edit the video to only show footage of a certain member. I'm not sure exactly how they'll do it, but it sounds like you're getting 5 different chopped up fangirl versions of the same video which is pretty lame and pointless (isn't that basically what people do on YouTube already?).

Yeah, I hate this multiple editions crap.

It'll probably be like this.

I might buy that version though, mostly for the 100 page book though. I usually opt out of the regular editions when it comes to multi-type releases. However I think it's like $5 difference right? I can't remember exact numbers but I recall comparing the prices and thought to myself, if I'm going to spend that much on just the regular edition. Might as well fork out the extra $5 for the doofy crap.
