I wouldn't be surprised if these replies were written by staff members. There was an author I followed when I was a teenager that talked about how he got so much fanmail that he had the people that ran his fanclub write replies which he would just sign.
No, because he arranges meet-ups with his fans through mail and then has one night stands with them at some hotel ::gaku::

No really, I think we're both right, I think often his staff replies for him, but he does so too every now and then :)

I remember that article. xD

I don't know about the other MM members, but back in the days Mon+amour actually worked fine, Mana was always asking us for comments on things he mentioned on the fan club magazines. And once in a while he would send gifts to his favorite messages, so I guess he reads at least some of them. I received these gifts two times many years ago, but there was never a letter. Other Brazilian fans also received gifts from him and a friend that lives here in Japan as well. The closest to a letter we all got was actually from M+a staff members apologizing for the delay. So, I guess presents are his way of showing appreciation even if he cannot handwrite letters back?

I think Mana's the only one who's still accepting mail, through his fanclub. You could probably send him stuff if you wanted.

Kaya must get a lot of weird stuff in the mail, his page says "DO NOT send food or living things" :lol: :lol: :lol:
What I wouldn't give to know what kind of animals people sent him ::meev::

The food thing is hilarious too because it makes me think of this woman on a Duran Duran forum who once baked cookies and gave them to the band backstage after a show and she was all offended because they didn't want to try them. Dumbass, they didn't know what was in those things. Of course they didn't want to eat your Date Rape Cookies.

food = Date Rape Cookies

living things = if we knew what they are, we would no doubt wish we never knew

hmm it depends. there are some musicians who actually enjoy to get food from their fans (some Japanese guys and some Chinese guys do not mind if their fans give them some food, some even exchange food with their fans (I wish I would have been there, must have been interesting ^-^).

hmm I do not know about Malice Mizer and fanmail. The way you guys speak about them, they must get a lot of fanmail but to be honest, I doubt that they got more than 1000 letters per week (during their high time) and that number seems to be very high for me. If I compare this to letters, some Actors and Actesses get and got I do not think that it is impressive.

@ Flowers: Once an actress sent Hedda Hopper a skunk, maybe Kaya heared this story.

There was another woman on that same forum that gave a bottle of expensive vodka to the bassist. The bassist is a recovering alcoholic.

Fandom is funny.

When I went to see Kozi in '06 and accidentally got to the live house ridiculously early, I saw some fangirls bringing him (well, presumably to be given secondhand by a staffer) a case of what was most likely alcohol. Of course, Kozi's not "recovering" by any means ;)

A hamster and cling film? ::meev:: Seriously though, his PO box probably doesn't get checked every day and sending "living things" by mail is a bad idea anyway, so I really hope this is just a precaution.

I truly hope so too ::bleh::
"Oh Kaya, I bought you this cute little pet hamster! I hope you like it! It nearly didn't fit in the hard case envelope, but I managed to squeeze it in. Please take care of it."
