I buy only from CDJapan. Their service is awesome. I've never had any problems.
Okay, just one: When I bought Kanon Wakeshima's "still doll" I bought the "last first press album on stock", which came with a poster and stuff. But when they were about to ship it they sent me an e-mail telling me there was a "fatal error" and they didn't had any first presses left. I got sad, but they immediately gave me like 500 Y in Frequent Shopper points (liek the third part of the price of the single, lol) and they apologized a lot of times.

So yeah, CDJapan is reliable.
I have no other experience getting stuff at other stores, but I heard YesAsia is also a good option.

BTW, I would like to get some punk-influenced clothes, but at cheap lol reasonable prices. Any suggestions?

Mauione is pretty cool, the service is perfect, and I never got custom charged which is cool!
CDJ are great too, even if you don't choose EMS, your items will come fast and it's pretty cool that you can accumulate points for items like CDs, the problem is that I have been charged each time I've ordered on it(for expensive items like Moitié clothes, but not on CDs/DVDs).
And for the clothes, I use a shopping service ( Celga for Mbok and Crescent for Yahoo Japan) to order on rakuten or maruione japan so that I can avoid te be charged because french customs are completely insane-_-

Maruione, cdjapan etc are good but all charge retail price AFAIK. If you want brand clothes at a discount, and don't wish to wait for things to go on sale, shopping second-hand items is awesome. It's how I get most of my brand clothes. You'd be shocked how many folks sell things that have only been once or twice, in perfect condition, for a fraction of the retail price.

Here's my bookmark list. These are all general j-brand sites that carry a mix of lolita, jpunk, jgothic, and vk/jrocker style clothing.

egl_sale livejournal sales community: http://community.livejournal.com/egl_comm_sales/ (my personal favorite)

Closet Child, JP: http://closetchild.ocnk.net/

Clothing Drop, EN: http://clothing-drop.com/boutique/

Tokyo Alice, JP: http://www.tokyoalice-shop.jp/

Alice fururunn, JP: http://www.fururun.com/index.html

YahooJapan (via a shopping service) and Ebay can also be good places to find things.

There are a lot of knockoff/cheap imitation brands and around too, but the quality is generally poor. However, I have heard decent things about Fan+Friend (http://www.fanplusfriend.com/index.htm)

One of my friends on LJ just ordered the "last JSK" in stock from Maruione and eighteen days later they messaged her with:

"Unfortunately all your ordered items were sold out and we were unable to dispatch the items. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause you.

We have canceled your order entirely on your behalf and refunded the total amount of your purchase through PayPal."

That's really really shitty customer service if you ask me. Not only did they wait over 2 weeks to let her know that she wasn't actually gonna receive the item they told her she got the last one of, but they didn't even give her a store credit or anything. And the item itself was much more expensive than a CD. :|

^That's crazy! I browse there occasionally but have never ordered. But I assumed they were reputable since they carry so many high-end brands. :| Lame!

Customer Service prize goes to CDJ.

@adonis: Thanks! :)

THEY JUST DID THAT TO ME YESTERDAY!!!! ::cuss::
I ordered 2 things on the 2nd, and they just told me one of them was "sold out". Honestly, if you have one of each thing in stock it shouldn't be so hard to tell when it's sold out. If they email me again in 2 weeks telling me the other thing is sold out I'm going to write a big angry review and post it on EGL.
However, my first experience with them was really good, so I don't know what the deal is now. I'm a annoyed that I paid $25 for shipping and I have to wait so long.

I hate that too, I order a cd a week ago and no one told me they were sold out...it is one of the most annoying things that happen.

Ok. This is what I've got:

CDJapan

Is always my first choice to buy releases. First because their service is THE BEST and they have an excellent interface where you can know first press details and stuff. Also, sometimes they give extra gifts and that's so cool. A friend told me in 2008 that YesAsia was not good because they didn't send first press external extras such as posters and stuff (EVEN IF the release had this extras as officials).

Celga (purchases from Yahoo Auctions and Mbok, etc)

When it comes to Yahoo Japan Auctions or Mbok I use Celga. I haven't used any other services like this so I can't say anything bad. Celga is totally reliable, and their service es FREAKINGLY FAST. You write them with some question and they reply you like in 5 minutes. Their fees are kinda normal (not to high and not too low). One thing I would change about them is the way they send you like 3 invoices to pay with item price, fees amount and shipping charge. Celga also pack the items very well.

Closet Child

I think if you were in Japan it wouldn't happen but...I had a very bad experience with this store. I purchased a Kaya's Glitter (indies) CD and after like 2 months of waiting my item never arrived. The staff is not very good at english so their late replies were kinda difficult to understand. I can't say DONT BUY THERE because I think maybe it was a not very often happening situation, and given the fact I didn't pay insurance so...But the thing is their service is not the best when it comes to giving a solution to any problem.

Scape forums Selling thread

All the people I have gotten items from here is reliable and very fluent writters XD.

I started using the shopping service Crescent Shop. I found it to be super easy, I haven't gotten anything yet so I can't really do a full blown rating of them. However last night I had asked a question through their BBS interface board and had a response in less then 15 minutes  . I was really surprised at how fast I gor a response! I wrote in simple plain English but their response was written out very well. (Do they out source to India LOL!?).

I've bought two things through Closet Child. Their responses are pretty slow, about two days for a reply. I ask them if they have certain items so I assume they have to look through their stock which causes some delay. A friend of mine recommended them for me, since she also has a similar love for old VK bands and says they're great for getting used CDs. She has said she's never had a problem with them.

I can't buy clothes online. It scares me. I think about stuff like how I have to try on 10 pairs of jeans at the store until I find a pair that fits just right, and I just know that if I buy clothing online it will be a disaster.

Yeah, I've never bought pants or shorts online for exactly that reason, nor would I. Tops and skirts are more or less safe though - I've ordered shoes, skirts, jackets, "cutsews" and t-shirts so far just based on their measurements and my amateur measurements of myself and they've all more or less fit well :)
The only mishap I've had on my end was with a jacket from hellcatpunks, I ordered too small based on the measurements but they were kind enough to let me mail it back and exchange it even though it said no returns on their website~

By Japanese standards, I'm a huge big fat giant fat fatty*, so it's a bad idea for me to buy any Japanese clothes.

*by American standards though, I'm thinner than average.

I wish you could buy bras online without having to worry about the size and whatever.

They have a bland bra selection at the Macys or Sears at the mall, I don't understand it. :(

I'm with you on pants and shorts. While I've seen some pants and shorts I would love to have, the scary idea of them being to small or two big just isn't going to happen. Actually I lie, I did buy a pair of pants from an American vendor once. They where listed as my usual pants size but when they came they where to small. So I exchanged them for a size that is usually a size I never wear. Thank God it was from the US and the shipping was only a few dollars. If this was Japan it would suck. :-S

Plus pants from Japan are to damn expensive! I bought a pair of silver snake skin pants from a local store here for $27 but I remember last year SEXPOT carrying a pair and it was over $100 for those damn things.

I mostly stick to tops for the same reasons. But I did get a pair of Naoto pants once ("for plus" ::zetsubou:: WTF. ); luckily the seller was SUPER friendly and gave me every last measurement I could think of and they are the best fitting pants I own.

I actually have an Excel spreadsheet with flat measurements of my own clothing, so I can compare quickly what ranges fit me best. It helps!

I've still had my share of mishaps though. ::erm::

I agree with everyone on the ordering pants. I'm scared that they would not fit me and that maybe I can't even get a refund or something. Not to mention that they're expensive. I have ordered two Moi meme Moitie JSKs from CD Japan and I was surprised that they are a little big for me, but I don't mind that.

I only order from CD Japan because the accept money order and I don't have a paypal yet. The service is super reliable and fast, at least for me.
