Seeing this thread reminded me to start looking for the Street of Alice manga, and I finally found it! Time to buy some porn ::gaku::

Scratch that, I think I found it!

Not linking directly to it, but is this it?

Looks like that is where the imagery for the MV was sourced!

So when is this from, is it new? That Knife guy's work all seemed to be from the 80s/90s.

I am having a hard time placing it. It appears to be lifted from an anthology collection, which I can't find. The website I found the scans on posted them in 2010, so it has to be released prior to then.

The thing was Dada just said he liked it and was inspired by the manga called "Street of Alice", but I looked and Knife never released a book called Street of Alice. However last night I just made the discovery that the story was part of a book called Sepia!

To be honest, when Dada announced that he ripped off the title I felt a bit disapointed, I mean no matter how weird he is I always felt that I respect his work of art in old Velvet Eden, but then it turns out he didn't make that up himself... I've found other sources he might have used as inspiration, but this is a complete rip off of the name, feels weird.

Do you know volume it is? I went through scans from 1 - 5 and couldn't turn anything up. Then again, maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I also noticed that the Street of ALICE album cover is drawn from one of the Sepia covers.

woah thanks for the info. I guess this solves the mystery of why "no one ever translated Street of Alice 100% correct" huh? lol

I, for one, personally feel no shame in not knowing about this manga back in 2002 though.
Prolly would have gotten kicked out of my dorm room if I looked it up when my rommies were around.

Edit; Apparently the same dude has one called ningyou hime....and...space dildos?
Where's the VE song titled "The terror from planet dildo"?
Man do I feel cheated>

Yes, this information is all very enlightening. I always meant to get around to researching the manga and now that people here are starting to, a lot of things definitely make sense. A lot of sexual references in his work, but then, that fits with DADA's image, so it works, I suppose.

Do you mean the song, 'Street of Alice', or the entire album itself? Because if you mean the song, I completely agree...translating that takes A LOT of imagination in order for it to make even a remote amount of sense. I interpreted it as Alice coming to 'Street of Alice' for the first time (since I believe I remember reading DADA referring to 'Street of Alice' as the "beginning" song of his lyrics and 'LA FIN' as the "ending" song, with all the others somewhere in between, at least for the KALM era ones) and Madame Tarantula showing her the way, though neither are actually mentioned by name in the song. The whole storyline fascinates me, but the lyrics are all over the place and I'm gradually working on an entire storyline outline for the lyrics, in some sort of order.

That's also why I transliterated and translated these on my site, for a little more clarity on the VELVET EDEN lyric storyline:

Okey so picked up the book yesterday and the Street of Alice bit is kind of short acctually. Here's a link to the book: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4792603900/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Basically the video is the whole story, they just cut out all the explicit sex parts, like when they have Alice tied up making her give a blowjob while the other...woman? (the blackhaired character seems to be an hermaphrodite) uses a dildo on Alice :P
Don't know if it was something wrong or if Sweden is special, but when I checked into my amazon account I got the message they can't ship this book to my location, anyone else got this?

Generally, obscene articles can't be shipped internationally or pass through customs.

Yeah but like flowers said, I think it's a Swedish thing this time acctually. We're very strict when it comes to buying pornography from overseas. Don't know if it made international news, but a couple of years ago a guy was caught with manga pornography on his computer and was taken to trial for it. The thing was that the manga was, sort of, child pornography and that is very much illegal :P what some people found upsetting was that these "children" were drawn and on top of that not human XD The depicted chidlren was elves and fantasy figueres. I don't think he ended up in jail, but if I remember correctly he used to work for our biggest publisher of manga as a translator and he got fired...
