I just received a password reset email, I didn't apply for one, should that have happened?
I don't think so ::kozi::
Technically anyone can pretend to be you and ask for a password reset I guess. Don't click it if you didn't ask for it.

EDIT: or is it actually from when you were having trouble logging in before? What's the timestamp on the email? Can you forward it to me?

Looks like it was from when the issue was happening, but it only arrived today, but the timestamp is for a few days ago.

Yeah, looks like it's nothing to worry about. I would have been seriously annoyed if someone was trying to break in like 2 days after I got the new forum set up XD

Quick Poll: what do people think of the bottom-of-post links here:
http://www.scapeforums.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=5829&start=195
"Profile", "PM", etc. Bring them back or leave them gone? Now that you can click the avatars to get all that I'm not sure if there's a point.

EDIT: and how about the columns here:
http://www.scapeforums.com/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=2
Does anyone actually like the new arrangement better? The old one was more streamlined so I want to go back to it, but I figure I might as well get some opinions.

EDIT2: other funny feature I learned about: you can actually hook up the forum to Paypal and let users buy new titles ::meev:: Too bad I already give them away, I could've cashed in ::cred::

I prefer it without, looks a bit cleaner, plus you can easily get to those things by clicking on the username next to a post.

I think I liked the 'reply' button more than the quote button too, but it depends on how closely you want it to resemble phpBB.

I'm actually missing the NEW "reply" and "edit" buttons, so I agree with CrystalAmmunition on everything he said. But what if you want to insert a quote, but you're not replying to anyone? I don't know how to do that other than the usual typing in the quote thing.

I think the only thing "bad" about the current columns is the replies/views column. It seems too cluttered together. Other than that I like how it looks!

If you're a guest looking at the front page though, the "sign up now!" button is weirdly formatted and unsightly.

EDIT: and now the date at the top is too spaced out from the thin grey line and our text seems too much to the top @_@

EDIT: I feel like I'm still getting used to it so it still doesn't feel quite like "home" yet @_@

What, you liked the plain old text links?
As for inserting a quote, you can also use this from the editor:

Yeah I know about the date but that's apparently a huge pain to fix, I'll do it later. Fixed the other thing with the text, and adjusted the quote boxes a little.

EDIT: and yeah I think that "replies/view" thing is cluttered too, but now that it's not stretching out the whole view anymore I can deal with it for now. I'll count that as 1 vote for the old way though

EDIT2: fixed the signup button and also the background of tabs. And if anyone noticed, the search boxes and navigators aren't crashing into each other anymore XD

As far as I was aware you could just hit 'reply' to pop a new quote in the reply box. That was how I was doing it at least.

Also - is any point in having a home and forums button on the navigation bar at the top of the page (above the breadcrumbs)? They both take you to the same place.

Nope XD It just came that way.

Does anyone want the up-top navigation links back?

It's pretty much replaced by that new menu bar.

So what did everyone like about the new reply button? Just that it was at the bottom instead of the top, that it was text, or what?

EDIT: fixed the indents on the threads listing and the size of the checkmarks cell. Truly an improved aesthetic ::mana::

I guess you could drop that bar and condense it up there.

I liked that it was on the bottom and I think I liked the text too. It just seemed "better". I think with the new update the old buttons don't fit the new overall style. Even though we have made it really close to the old forum, things are sleeker and more subtle now and the old buttons seem... chunky and in your face.

OMG it's so cool that now when we select something the "quote" button pops out!!! Maybe you can keep the old button for that? I really liked it there!

I'm undecided about the top navigation links. I don't see why they need to be there anymore, but I'm not sure if you like them for nostalgic reasons. I really like the "alerts" function and you can easily log out and do all the same things.

Something I also noticed is that on the front page we have "-scape-" twice, once in a bigger size font and once right above all the forum links. I'm wondering if that's redundant, especially because we have the -scape- logo itself (a third "-scape-") at the top of the website already.

EDIT: Maybe if you want to keep the old quote/edit buttons then space them away from the "Report" and #__ things because they're really close together. Or put the report and # thing somewhere else.

Got rid of the extra label on the front page, and fixed the "frames" around the avatars.

As for the "Quote" thing, that wasn't actually intentional, I think the highlight version is linked to be the same as whatever's on the regular button, at least by default.
The "Report", "Like", and #, I was thinking of getting rid of. I mean, no one's going to use Report and Like except for trolling people anyway ::meev:: And the # button is actually the same thing as the little "page" next to your post time.

I got my web host to fix the database thing - supposedly. They just finished moving all the DBs to a different machine that is "more stable", so they claim the problems we've been having should never happen again.

I don't know why they even keep "less stable" machines around :P

I don't know... would you put the labels on each thread going forward?

And I donno if you did something, but now my full PureElegance name isn't on one line anymore next to my avatar on the front page. Now it shows my avatar and next to it says, "PureEle-[next line] gance." Before it used to look pretty and all fit in one line. :(

Now its beneath my avatar. Wasn't it above our avatars at first? WHATS GOING ON. Above seemed more authoritative to me...

But at least it's on one line now. :B

I was first at my desktop Windows computer at my internship and now I'm on my Macbook. It just keeps changing I guess? On Windows it was next to my avatar and now its on the bottom of my avatar when it used on top of the avatar.

I don't know if this is just me. :B
