This is a lolita fashion event. The link for their FB announcement is here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/148397015851802/?notif_t=plan_user_joined&notif_id=1519578257213427

The dates are Sept 15th & 16th. It's a Moi-même-Moitié related event. But since these seem to be more frequent I thought I would post outside of the Moi-même-Moitié thread, seeing that there are often panels and other activities that happen. At this time they have a fashion show and a question and answer panel planned.

Mana's tweet about it is here:

I love that this event is ONLY Lolita/Gothic related and not like a "Comic Con" like Sakura Con at the end of this month :)

I am sure there will be more. It's difficult to find good size lolita only events in the US. There are a couple like Rufflecon. It's pretty much accepted here that anime conventions is a catch all title for conventions of Japanese pop culture and lolita is part of that. There are some Japanese pop culture conventions but they are less attended. I'd love to see them take part in a goth event here in the US. It's so untapped yet fashion is a major part of goth culture in the US and in Europe. Maybe once they get more new designs happening, especially ega?

I guess it helps that I am familiar with the lolita world in the US to know it's actually a good thing for brands to be able to take part in these kinds of conventions. They do get a sizable lolita attendance and it's good advertising.

Something good about anime conventions is the possibility of cross over since there are also music fans that attend. If Mana ever wanted to do both Moite and MdM at one he could.

I am thinking about attending, too, but as flights to Finnland seem to be a little more on the expensive side I'll only book it in a few weeks time. :) It would be lovely to go though!

It's been such a long time since they've last been to Europe after all.

Yes, flights to Finland are a bit pricey but it also depends where you are going from. I would go from London so it is not too bad. I am really thinking of going if my workplace allows me to book a holiday!

Did you check Ryanair? They're usually ridiculously cheap. I went from Berlin to Manchester for a mere 10 Euros last year and only booked about a month in advance. They might not fly to Helsinki directly though but some city closeby instead.

It's been more than ten years already, hasn't it? I remember how mad I was at my parents, when they wouldn't let me take the trip to the concert on my own. And didn't like my plan of spending the night at a stranger's house I only knew from the internet, who also much older than me, well maybe only 6 years or so, but I was only 15 at that time so... hahaha. By now I kind of understand that is was actually the only reasonable thing to do.
I'm still mad that I couldn't see them back then, especially knowing that it would take them another 10 years to come back to Europe.
But in all honesty I'm not big enough of a fan anymore to go through the trouble of going to Finland just to see our Lord and Saviour - Mana-sama. ::mana::
On the other hand I've been wanting to go and visit Scandinavia for a long time - so who knows.

Will there be a full MdM concert or is it just Mana attending the convention?

There's not going to be any music, it's just a fashion convention.

Yup, it's a lolita and aristocrat event. There will be a fashion show and Mana may answer questions (most likely whispering to an interpreter as he does). There is a tea party the next day. About that, I can say that most likely they will expect tea party goers to wear at least one Moitie item since that is what is normally expected at brand events. The group putting on the event is Hellocon ry. Their FB is here https://www.facebook.com/groups/700331666687506/

I have to say the venue they are going to use looks amazing.

The other members of MdM not likely to be there since this is Moi-même-Moitié event.

Get off my back, I'm totally allowed in here ::meev::
https://www.wunderwelt.jp/en/fleur/products/a-00102

"see all the people pulling up their pants to show their Moitie socks"

Trust me, people start freaking out over this. Right now I'm seeing people online panicking because they can't find any Moitie to buy, and there is that size issue. I'm like people, why have you never bought even a candelabra necklace?

I wonder if my chopsticks are good enough...Naw, I'm bringing my bat bag if I go to a tea party. ::mana::

so, i got tickets for the Saturday event where Mana will have Q&A.
the tickets for the meeting and greeting as well as for tea party were gone literally in a second.
i was camping for them and i couldnt get them.

About the clothing, i think you do not have to wear Moitie for a Saturday event but for Sunday meetup im pretty sure everyone will wear Moitie.

I went to the event and Mana’s meet and greet.
It was my first time meeting him. Also, my friend was modeling for one of the brands and she said he was talking backstage.
Mana left an impression of a very cold person and he did not seem to enjoy the event tbh. Maybe it is just me.. my friends had the same impression about him though .

Interesting, because I saw on social media other people who were charmed. One said he even smiled at her and grabbed her hand a couple times because he saw she was scared.

From what Mana wrote about Seattle, he was very nervous there. It's possible he also felt nervous to be at this event. He hasn't done social events in a number of years, or gone to other countries in a while. It could be it's a bit intimidating, plus having a long plane ride after doing the DSVI shows that he might be tired. Also the not talking, no facial expression gives an impression of aloofness. And it can't be easy to be around hundreds of people who want your attention.

Hard to say but I've seen him be pleasant and friendly. Not making excuses, just saying events like this, there is a lot going on, can't be that easy to do. I know the meet and greet I went to felt very rushed. It's difficult to make an impression in a very brief period of time.

Didn't they cram all his events into one day? Q & A, fashion show, quiz, meet and greet/autographs, VIP meeting, along with being presented and closing remarks?

Did anyone here ever read "Cugel's Saga" by Jack Vance? At one point in the story, Cugel, our anti-hero, comes across a village where the men spend their day sitting atop stone columns, and compete for status by the height of their columns, which they are continually stacking new segments on top of.
Cugel tries to make a quick buck by magically stealing the bottom segments, and selling them back to the villagers to re-stack, but he gets found out in the end because some of the segments were numbered.

... I have no idea why this suddenly came to mind.
