I remember a dreadful production of "Roméo et Juliette" with Romeo's friends riding motorbikes on stage. I gave up, even though I liked the actress (Romane Bohringer) a lot. You'd think the past must be made modern at all costs, which is so damn stupid!

It means that too, it's a very useful word XD

Thank you flowers <3

Though I would like to know what he thinks of her now =o! That woud be interedting because her music and her style has changed a lot!

I'd be interested in knowing too actually. I never liked her but liked her 80's music.
There's her new single being played at night on tv on tf1 I think, and first I didn't like it but soon realized it's been stuck in my head and I... think I dig it.
Eh.

I found this a few months ago, is the house that appears in the PV Gekka no Yasoukyoku, or at least the outside... His name apparently is "Weathercock House".

I have seen that several artists (Versailles, Tomoko Kawase...) have filmed videos inside the same house but I do not know the name. :|

Here is a blog with photos and text

Here is a video where you see the houses

I can not put links but the new PV of D (Rosenstrauss) was filmed there.

This thread has provoked me to finally listen to Mylene Farmer's music, specifically her album "Ainsi soit je...". After listening to this album and watching all of the associated music videos, I think it is safe to say that without this woman, Malice Mizer would have turned out much differently.

imo: the dark atmospheric sounds and imagery and even some of the melodies/instrumentation can be found throughout many of Malice Mizer's releases.

Listen to the guitars in Malice Mizer's song "SADNESS" and then the piano/harpsichord-type instrument in the second half of Mylene Farmer's song "Ainsi soit je" to hear the most obvious melodic similarity.

I think most of the commonalities lie within the Tetsu and Klaha eras. The Gackt era seems to be the most far removed from Mylene's influence.

I know that most artists who achieve great things, do so by piggy backing off of others' ideas. Malice Mizer certainly became something much different from Mylene Farmer, but in my eyes there is no question that they were heavily influenced by her more so than by any other artist.

I love "Ainsi soit je..." btw. I think it is a beautiful album. Anything that helps unravel the mystery that is Malice Mizer is bound to be beautiful.

ugh, I hate to be that guy that is always pointing out similarities in things instead of just enjoying the music and letting it be... :(

Edit: Mylene Farmer's "Maman a tort (Nouvelle version)" is pretty much the foundation for Közi's "Honey Vanity (Retromantics Club Mix)"

If I am correct about the songs "SADNESS" and "Honey Vanity" (Both composed by Közi), then that would mean that it was perhaps Közi who was the bigger Mylene Farmer fan than Mana was.

They have some mylene farmer influence, but I'd say that she is not the biggest one. David Bowie, Bach (and other classical composers), and horror movie tracks are also big (if not bigger) influences.

I don't doubt you, but could you include some references? I have no idea how David Bowie influenced Malice Mizer for example. And yes, they do play in a classical style, but do they directly copy Bach's (or any other classical composer's) melodies?

edit: Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie No.1" seems to be the inspiration for ~zenchou~

I'm going to take a break from playing Scape Detective for a while. :|
