Oh boy, this is a tough one. I guess I'd have to say that Bara no Seidou is my favorite, because I like every one of the songs on the cd. 99% of the time, I only like a few songs on a cd, so it's pretty special when I enjoy the entire thing. I love all of the albums in their own ways, though. I'd say that Merveilles comes second, since it probably has the most memorable and diverse songs on it (Syunikiss, Bel Air, Illuminati, Au revoir, Gekka no Yasoukyoku).

This question is so tough it's not even funny since each album is unique and special in it's own way. :P

Btw, I picked Bara no Seidou because I'm a sucker for Klaha's vocals and the Goth funeral theme the band had at that time. :D

The close second would've been Merveilles.

^ I agree, I love each album since each are really different but I have to choose...

Bara no Seidou.

I know its kind of obvious, but its that album that I first fell in love with! I love that type of music the most and I thought it was their best era ::squee:: It also has Shiroi, which is my favorite MM song and my favorite song of all time XD

I love every song on merveilles too and it even has a couple of my favorite songs (Gekka and Bel Air), but its just not the same XD
(Its that damn S-Concious ::meev:: )

and I'm not sure which other album should come in third ::kisaki::

Yeah, I'm definitely in the Bara no Seidou club. No contest. My second would be Merveilles, but there are too many songs on that one that I'm not in love with (Brise, Ju Te Veux, Gekka).

Mayonaka, Kyomu and especially Shiroi were the songs when I was first getting into Malice that made me go "holy crap, this band is frickin' AMAZING." The dueling guitars in Shiroi, the emotion in Klaha's voice in Mayonaka and the general kick-assness of Kyomu just blew me away. I love the entire album, but those songs in particular are my favorites.

Bara no Seidou is mine.

It really reminds me of... well, Castlevania. I loved Castlevania's music when I was a wee lad.

The use of choirs, church organs, and harpsichords, with such melancholic and dark melodies... how could you go wrong with that?

I preferred Klaha more than Gackt (the music was too pop-ish with him) and Tetsu (ugh).

It seems most of us agree with Bara no Seidou.

Second favourite would be Memoire, by the way, I like all of the songs on it.

Bara no Seidou. On the second place is Memoire, then Merveilles and on the last is Voyage. But though Voyage is on the last place, I still like it.

Merveilles <3

I love every single song on that album, and it's the era most special to me, which makes me biased XD But the world they created during the Merveilles era is the one I associate most as 'being Malice Mizer', if you know what I mean. It's the era I first got into Malice, too.

But Bara no Seidou is also one of the most fantastic pieces of art ever to be created in the music industry if you ask me, lol - so that's definitely a very close second ^.^

I enjoy all of their albums (though Voyage less than the others), and I think Merveilles is the highest-quality production of theirs, but I think Bara no Seidou is the most outstanding.

It lacks musicianship (only one song--maybe two--features any real guitarin'), but it makes you forget that you care by being so cohesive and cathartic. It's the only one I feel like I have to own. I rarely listen to it, but god if it isn't good therapy when I need it.

On the contrary, I find that since the guitar has been toned down a lot on the album, the musicianship has increased greatly.

I think he just means there aren't many instances of the members actually playing something.

stilllll shiroi hada ni kuruu ai to kanashimi no rondo should make up for that by itself (what a sick bassline, yu~ki!)
