Mana and Klaha cannot be separated from the words "classically trained" when people talk about them on the internet.
Yet, I have never seen any source of these claims.
I am curious if somewhere in a magazine or interview, Klaha or Mana talk about classical music training before joining VK bands.
Or if this is just a rumor that people assumed because Klaha kinda sounds like an Opera singer, and Mana's whole brand is classically-inspired rock and metal music.
THX!

Mana has talked about growing up with those influences at least, but Klaha's never mentioned anything of the sort. I don't think either of them "did" classical music any more than a typical Japanese schoolboy of their age would have done. There's probably no buried footage of Mana bundled up in an ill-fitting tuxedo playing 3rd violin in Haydn's 243rd Symphony for a school concert XD
And let's be real, there's probably not much overlap between the conservatory crowd and the no-good louts who join visual bands ::meev:: Different worlds for sure.

Not sure, if I am remembering this correctly, but weren't Mana's parents (music) teachers? I know he has talked about growing up with some classical influence. I've always just assumed that that's where his love for Bach comes from.

I have heard the exact same thing but I can't remember where I heard it. I feel like all the sources for this type of information gets lost amongst our memories lol

No, I never received classical training. But I do understand why people think that I did. I even remember a post saying I'm an opera singer. I just enjoy old classical music like Chopin etc. (I even named my cat after him!)

As for Mana, I remember he told me his parents were music teachers and they played classical music for him all the time.

While we're on the topic of Klaha and rumours, wasn't there a goofy rumour going around a while ago regarding him working in South Korea, or being a home appliance salesman, or something similar?

everytime I see you post something I lose my mind

But in regards to the topic: Yeah there's not really much information to my knowledge about Klaha's upbringing and whether or not he was classically trained or his parents where music players themselves. There might've been something locked away on his cryptogram fanclub at some point that went more into his younger years? Though that's all probably impossible to access now lol
Mana's parents were music teachers so I think it's just natural to assume he was trained classically from them. I've also read that Mana's parents and Gackts parents knew each other(?) since they're also music teachers, but Im not entirely sure of that particular fact.

I think this was the mechanic rumour! One of the more vague ones.

If I remember correctly, the etiquette teacher one is separate…and complete with edited photos ::gaku::

Mana wasn't "classically trained". Yes, he has said many times over the years that his father taught music at school. And that they would play classical music at home. Children raised in that kind of environment can develop music skills. And it is highly likely that Mana and his siblings had music lessons as children. Not just because of his parents, but it is something a lot of Japanese parents had their children do.

I bet Mana would laugh at people assuming he was classically trained, given that he was a punk as a teenager. Definitely rebelled against his father like a lot of teenagers. The siren song of rock was calling him...being a punk or being into rock music in conservative Japan, it must have been rough. Not something that would be popular at school or in a small town. I admire that he stuck to what he really wanted to do.

I know he can play keyboard and piano somewhat. It's not uncommon for people to have a good ear for music but not be able to read sheet music or be trained.

There was an issue of Rock and Read a few years ago that myself and Faith (if memory serves me correctly) partially translated in which Mana clearly states that he has not received any classical training and is musically illiterate (that is to say, he cannot read musical notation proficiently).
